Who Watches LOST?

Hey,

A new season (5th season) just premiered here and I didn't watch any of the previous seasons.

I'm totally lost on the story line. So...

Who are "The Others"? I know, Ben and Juliet are, but who else was in the team?

And how are they different from the.. plane crash people?

Hope someone can explain...

  I've been watching it from the beginning.
  
  Quite honestly, this show is impossible to pick up from the middle. In fact,
  even following it every single day since day 1, there were times when I
  was almost completely lost, no pun intended.
  
  You really need to get the first 4 seasons and start watching from the
  beginning or don't even bother. You'll miss way too much to get anything
  out of the show.
  
  IMO, the best show to come to TV since I've been on this planet.
  
  And that's a long time.

  Sumit, you really do need to watch the whole thing...it's pretty hard to explain here...luckily you can watch everything online
