A piece of string is about the same size as it has been cut.

Then, of course, you could take into consideration of the length of the string if it's individual fibres were laid end to end - in which case, I imagine the very same piece of string to be substantially longer than the same piece of string was in it's original form.

So in answer to your question "How long is a piece of string", I would reply "a lot longer".

Did that help much? Lol. You know what, the really sad thing is I thought about what I was going to write before I actually wrote it.

Nope, it didn't help much it still doesn't help me figure out how long a piece of string is.

      This is a true story...

My great grandfather was known for being such a penny pincher back in the 1800's he even had a box marked "String too short for any use".

In answer to your question, a string can only be one of two sizes...

Too long, or not long enough.

No one in the history of mankind has ever been known to possess a string of perfect proportions.

That's why some of the most brilliant minds in science have for the last half century devoted their time and resources to a thing they call "String Theory".

If they can't figure it out, what chance do we have.

So its length drops to zero if you hold both ends together?

What ply is the string, and does it have elastic invoved in it's woven property?

Oh, and how long did you say it was?:p

No elastic properties and I don't know the length thats why I am asking.

What is the circumference of your pointer finger, and how many times can you wrap it around said finger without overlapping the string upon itself?

Can you measure the circumference of your pointer finger so that I can finish my matmatical equation please?
