I been looking at the internet now for about an hour looking for healthy, low calorie snacks which taste good, I must admit I only found about 2 of about 200 which sound any good . So I thought I would come here, what are some healthy snacks which taste great and are low calorie, which you yourself eat.

I've posted this before...In theory, this is all you need to eat for a well-balanced diet:

Peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich on enriched wheat bread (high fiber), with a glass of low-fat milk. Should be about 500 calories. If you just want a snack, make half a sandwich.

      Bananas (the perfect food)
      sweet pepper strips (green,yellow,red)
      sharp cheddar cheese (crackers optional)
      extra sharp cheddar cheese
      celery stuffed with peanut butter
      peanut butter and crackers
      pretzels
      peanuts in the shell
      pistachios
      raw cabbage
      raw cauliflower
caramels (ok - not low calorie, but damned good)

      geez - now I'm hungry

peanut butter and banana/honey sammiches are good, but you wouldnt want to eat them all the time, too much fat and carbs.

Who eats the same thing all the time? Same can be said of jerkey...If all you eat is protein, you'll die from "protein poisoning"...

Peanut butter is higher in protein per gram than meat, and the fat from peanut butter is cholesterol free, and from the banana.

Plus, if one exercises properly, carbs aren't the problem everyone makes them out to be. Most diet experts suggest making carbs 50-60% of your daily diet. Even Atkins says 40%. I think this sandwich falls within that range, depending on the proportions one chooses.

Am I the only here who is going to admit to not exercising?

I mean, I detest it. More than detest it. I've never gotten that "high" from exercising.. EVER.

I always thought I was just lazy.. and then I recently discovered there's an actual autoimmune disorder that results in extreme exhaustion upon exercise. Seeing that I have lupus, I may not be as lazy or crazy as I thought. (Ok, James... hold your tongue boy..

I agree about the carbs, but you NEED fat or carbs. It turns out that a total lack of fat is problematic AND, GET THIS, some fats have to be TRANS FATS! But NATURAL trans fats, not ARTIFICIAL garbage like hydrogenated vegetable oil. Perhaps over 90% of all "trans fats", that were used prior to the trend to get rid of them, are hydrogenated vegetable oils.

You want better fats? Get NATURAL peanutbutter! The oil separates, but that is because it is NOT hydrogenated! Hydrogenated oils keep better at room temperature, and can stay more solid, which is why they were created. IOt is a little known fact that that is a SCAM and one of the reasons why it is true is because they take Vitamin E, which helps oil keep better, OUT of vegetable oil! But hydrogen costs less than they can get for the vitamin E, and hydrogenation solves two of their problems.

BTW if you check, oddly enough, the average snack has about 200calories, give or take about 50 calories. And less than 32 calories in most snacks comes from protein. ALL the rest is carbs and fat.

Greek Yogurt is very healthy and calorie dense (I work out so it's great stuff if your clean bulking).

I make my own protein bars that blow away anything bought in a store without all the sugar and crap. And yes natural peanut butter rocks (especially Skippy's Honey Roasted). Almonds are another great snack.

"Bacon flavored" has tons of ingredients that even physicians stutter trying to pronounce.

Study the label,if you can't recognize or pronounce it, AVOID it.

Food scientists work darned hard to get you to "Can't stop eating" them.

any sliced veggies, nuts, dried fruit.

I especially love kohlrabi and cabbage.

Extremely thin sliced potatoes and sweet potatoes baked after coating with olive oil then tossed in a bowl to coat it with hot cayenne pepper powder, black pepper, sesame seed and salt or other spices.broil for a few minutes to crispy them up.

Stay the F away from store bought chips with Canola oil or soy oil.
In fact staying away from ANY packaged/processed food? products would do your body good. Read "Fighting the Food Giants" by Paul Stitt

AND get a dehydrator for veggies and fruit slices.
Tarot chips too hmm hmm good!

another is "fresh" mozzarella cheese or feta cheese or both!, greek olives, red onions diced swimming in olive oil, diced sun-dried tomatoes. Great!

as far as healthy meats, of course organic but, Bison is fantastic and venison and ostrich.
    dried salmon OH BABY!

Hey Butters and anyone else reading, I posted an off topic thread regarding health and internet marketing.

I was seeing if anyone needed help staying healthy while pursuing their Internet Marketing dreams like me. Sitting in front of a computer can be harmful if the proper diet and nutrition is off. But people always overlook that.

I was asking how people take care of themselves because I sincerely care as I have been introduced to Usana health science products.

And as far as snacks, Welcome to USANA.com! has a variety of very HEALTH conscious snacks and supplements as well.

I am not going to lie, I am a new representative of the company. But I am by no means a salesman. I just wish to help people out with their health because USANA has the best products out there and there are facts to prove it. And it is very true that Health is definitely overlooked. But what is the point of all the wealth we strive for if we don't have the health to live the lifestyle.

My family, My friends, and I live a Usana healthy lifestyle. And I would highly recommend any of their products. Personally, the Peanut Butter crunch bar is amazing. But yet definitely healthy for you. Same with the Rev3 Energy drink.. No crash, Low in sugar(all natural), and sustained energy.

If you want I could put in an order for some of the snacks or anything else you like on the product side at Welcome to USANA.com! and you would also receive a discount.

Thank you and I hope the best for not only your internet marketing career but your health as well.

I hope I helped everyone out a bit. Message me anytime and I would be glad to answer any questions about the products.

    (I actually can't send PM's anymore)

    Take care,

One way around the fat in PB is to use NATURAL peanutbutter, and the fats tend to be healthy and not readily fattening. MOST peanutbutter has hydrogenated oils, and that means TRANS FATS! Unfortunately, natural peanutbutter i not shelf stable once opened, and separates. 8-(

Although protein that isn't used, and can't be stored, IS converted to energy after having nitrogen removed, which DOES cause ammonia and CAN be a problem, many sites talking about it tend to overstate the dangers. If your kidneys are healthy, you can handle a LOT of excess.

HERE is a site that is FAR more reasonable! Rabbit starvation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

      be careful with the powerbars.

first they have the consistency of road tar and will bind you up.

second, anyone that has a heavy protein diet will tell you that protein farts are not good.

Funny, I have NEVER heard about "protein farts" and, in theory, it would be IMPOSSIBLE! Protein can be used 100%, except for excess which is deaminated which is excreted as urine.

BTW I HAVE been on a heavy protein diet. MAYBE you confuse heavy food with heavy PROTEIN. If yu drink LOTS of milk, for example, you can get plenty of protein, but other things CAN give you the problem you speak of.

I've no secret hidden agenda for saying so but, Canola Oil was formerly called Rape Seed oil.

My research has convinced me that it is to be avoided as a food.
Go ahead an use it as an industrial lubricant like is was/is but, do not eat it.

Peanut butter also has concerns that make me avoid it.Mostly fungals.
People are so hammered with additives, processed, packaged foods that 'some' have immune systems that aren't working very well.

Avoiding borderline, or debatable foods just MIGHT be useful. Just saying, OK?

NO links as there are plenty and I do not want to be ripped for leaving out opinions that debate what I said.

Use your own discernment to decide.

I just found way too much data that causes ME to steer clear of it.

Grape Seed, Olive oil (you can find research it say it is bad too!), sesame and others would be a favored oil to eat.

Canola oil started into the market due to trade agreements like Nafta or others I forget during the Clinton era, from what I found.

I can almost guarantee you will find plenty of arguments for as well as against Canola.

As far as fruit in general, some weirdness is going on with them.
    Maybe, irradiation?
Recently Bananas and apples some times have bruises on them that, just look VERY unusual from what I remember them ever having. An odd coloring and translucent look.

    Snausages!?

Dog treats are F'n Criminal! Enough said.

    ¡Salud!

Lee, have you seen the Tefal ActiFry? I know it is a little expensive at around £150 but it is an amazing machine if you are serious about healthy eating. You only use one tablespoon of oil for anything you cook including chips which taste really good. You can cook pratically anything in there including chicken, fish, meat & the vegetables taste like you just roasted them in the oven. If there is any fat in the food like meat, sausages etc... then you do not need to add any oil at all. Put it on your list it is well worth it...

I am going to try the peanut butter & banana on wholemeal bread... I have avoided peanut butter because it is high in calories but definately tasty & healthy.

If you want inbetween meal snacks then the Walkers baked crisps are really nice, I would have them even if I was not trying to keep my calories low.

I make my own yogurt and then add a few goodies to it. Commercially, Stoneyfield yogurt is very good. Get plain low fat, and then you can add a bit of granola, fresh fruit, walnuts, etc. I use a dab of maple syrup to sweeten it. Avoid the pre-prepped yogurt, usually very sugary.

My favorite mid - afternoon snack: a handful of nuts, and an apple with sliced up cheese - swiss, sharp cheddar, or provolone. Can get low fat varieties. Walnuts, raw almonds, etc - I avoid the commercial brands, which are often way too salty, use hydrogenated oils, etc.

Lately I've been sucking down the clementines, also. Yum.

Well I dunno about snacks but as to food well for me potatoes in any shape or form. Boiled, mashed, roasted, baked, fried, colcannoned...yummy in any form and incredibly good for you. Eat plenty of potatoes and you will never have a weight problem. All these stupid diets telling you not to eat potatoes are phoney. Spuds rule.
