Just wondered if it was ok for each of us to just say
thank you to each other? Just curious

Oh I had kinda a more serious question - how many
WSO's can we run at one time?

Is there a restriction?

About thanks; except in the thank you thread in the OT forum, I have two basic rules about giving a thank you.
If I feel the post deserves it, I give it.
If the poster asks for thanks, thats a sure way I wont give it,and it will lessen any impact the number of thanks he has will have on me.

As far as WSO, I don't believe there is a limit as long as you have created the content yourself.

      Same story for me.

If someone asks for a thanks, it doesn't matter how awesome their post is I'm not clicking the thanks button.

If this post isn't moderated (or deleted) after the following statement, I guess its ok and hasn't contravined any national or international WF laws . . .

    "Thank you to each other"

    :p

Well, asking for thank you's are not necessary but I am surprised to see posts like

"Thanks a lot for sharing Mr. XYZ"

Yet, the Mr.XYZ post is not thanked ! This shouldn't happen..

Happens because the purpose of the poster is to get his own name/link seen - not really to thank someone else.

I agree - if someone mentions "thank me" I won't do it. I thank those who offer good advice or an answer I fully agree with.

It's not a competition when it comes to "thanks".

I don't believe there is a limit on the number of WSO's you can post, as long as it's original good content, your fine. As far as a "thank you" gooes, I just had a guy ask me for one, and you know what I gave it to him. He helped me out with something important, and said if this is what you needed could you give me a thanks. I said sure, why not. He fulfilled his part of the bargin. I have no problem helping people out, thats what this forum is for, right? Besides it's just good manners! ;-)

I am new here but I have been on another IM forum for a while now & I make a point to thank anyone who has gone out of their way to make an informative post or has been helpful. I would certainly not thank anyone who has asked for it, I am not sure why anyone would asked to be thanked anyway. Maybe they think that it gives them more credibility, not sure...

I too am turned off when someone pointedly asks for a thank you. Once in a while I'll STILL hit the thanks button, if the post value greatly overwhelms the poster's gall in asking for thanks. But it doesn't happen often.

(I'm also kind of turned off when someone creates a new post just to say 'thanks for the tip' or something similar, with no other inherent value to the thread - when IMO that's when they SHOULD simply use the thanks button. But that's another story.)
