One of those "up there" questions

I know this would be better up there than down here in the asylum, but this asylum needs more life anyway.

I'm working on this wordpress blog and the stupid sidebar is stuck and won't change. Under design>widgets>sidebar I have what I want to be on the sidebar. But it's never been there. It's categories, meta, and search. That's it. Can't get those off, can't add anything else. Must be something with the template? Any wordpress people know how to get rid of the stuff stuck on the sidebar and get what I want on it? Must be with the theme?

yeah, it's allowing you to add more widgets, though, right?

so look for this code or similar on the file called sidebar.php and move it up to directly under the first <ul>

if that doesn't work, I'll need to get in there and take a lookie for ya

Hmm there's no code like that. I erased that annoying meta part. But under widgets it has html, links, adsense. But none of that shows. Now its just categories, archives, and search. And for some reason in the php it doesn't say anything about a sidebar 1, just sidebar 2. But there's just one sidebar on the blog.

ah crap, it isn't widgetized!

so the code has to be put in and a new file called functions.php needs to be created...

are you absolutely in love with this theme or are you open to getting another? Get one that's widgetized...the older ones usually aren't

if you really want to stick with the theme, let me know what theme it is and I'll download it, fix it up and send it back to you. I'll have to do it later tonight, though, after Lost
have to run out for a bit.

Oh and I'm gonna beat everyone up here except Karen cause no one said happy birthday so I'm gonna hunt everyone down and karate kick everyone!! But I hate birthdays so LOL I won't karate kick anyone
Anyway I got a theme that sucks? I don't even care what theme is used I don't mind switching themes at all, just mad I got a sucky one. It sucks being an idiot. I should start an idiot support group.

Yesterday and it sucked :P Felt sick, tummy hurt so bad must have ulcers, went to bed before anyone's grandmother :P But what are the point of birthdays? They are depressing, just a reminder that you're old and time flies and next thing you know you'll be dead. Oh but Aquarians are definitely the best sign.
Anyway just waiting to see if I should change themes or mess with the code or what

As far as your WP theme...I'd let Karen have a look if it was me...you may be able to keep what you like and make it work like you want.

nope, you're no idiot! How were you supposed to know about the theme, unless you really know WordPress themes and how they're put together
