    There's always TigerDirect (.com)

I've been happy with the things I've bought from them.

Another vote for TigerDirect.com. (I actually worked for them for 18 month at the Miami store.)

Damn it looks like everyone is in the laptop buying 'stage' at the moment... wonder how the affiliates are doing right now for laptop products and if they see an increase in sales just before spring?

If your looking for a great deal, and don't mind doing some basic assembly: Google barebone laptop. You can find them all over, and the price is right because you do some of the assembly. Usually you just have to install the wireless card, and RAM in some cases. I'm super happy with all my barebone units.

For those that don't know barebone is just a term, I'm not plugging any brand names.

I know of this great deal where if you enter your email address you can get a laptop absolutely free. Don't worry about the long, messy hyperlink.

    hehe just joking

Dell. Buying anything else is asking for trouble in my opinion.

Bah! I used to work for a big company that used Dells for the office side of things and HP's for the engineering side. We had a lot of problems with the Dell desktops, but then, we did have thousands of them. Employees also got a corporate discount through Dell, so a lot of people bought them. Dells have as many problems as anyone else....and I have heard as many negative comments on their customer service as positive. Some were nightmare stories.

I'm not trying to say Dells suck,...just trying to keep things in perspective.

I'm looking for a laptop myself to replace my MAC (which I don't recommend for IM).
