Just wanting to know who may or may not drink while working and the effects on productivity? I've been known to knock a few back while hauling through website builds...

Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm writing code, it helps. If I'm writing copy, it helps. If I'm writing articles, it doesn't. If I'm building sites, it doesn't.

I think the key is whether it's a "crossover" discipline that's half-science, half-art. When I have a task like that, drinking helps. Anything else, it doesn't.

      Pretty close.

      But, almost the opposite.

If I'm writing copy or articles a couple, ( and I mean "a couple"), it loosens my mind enough to just let it flow.

Writing code, however, requires more focus.

Now, when I'm in the OT, that's a different story.

I drink a bit of rum when writing an article, especially at night. The taste makes you awake! LOL! I am a social drinker, so its not really strange to me at all.

Somehow drinking (alcohol) seems to work for me only when I'm writing articles. It loosens up my mind and fingers quite nicely, and I tend to write more freely and impulsively when I'm under the influence. For any sort of analytical work at all, whether it be setting up blogs, websites or FTP work, tea and water work best for me. If I get overly caffeinated (i.e. with strong coffee or energy drinks), it becomes a little difficult for me to concentrate on tedious and/or analytical tasks.

Usually tea (normal tea). I've just cottoned onto green tea. But adding lemon to it too. It becomes some a powerhouse anti-oxidant mix apparently, when you do that

    Hi All,

I don't drink alcoholic beverages while working.
And that's because I really do not drink alcoholic beverages at all.
    I'm allergic to alcohol.
I'm sure I'm missing a lot of things

I pound down , like a twelve pack.... Then I start writing ad copy. I find that a good portion of the traffic I get is from inebriated dental hygienists . This is weird because that is not a niche on mine. So , I dunno. I don't think it matters.

In a psychology course we learned that alcohol actually increases attention, memory, and productivity when you first start drinking. But as you continue to drink these benefits drastically and quickly plummet. So if you are disciplined enough to have just a few sips every hour, then you are good to go.

one of the few things that stuck out from that class...glad I spent who knows how much on a college education haha

It depends on what you'll drink. In order to have more energy and stay lively, drink coffee. You'll be unproductive if you start drinking liquor while you're at work. That's pretty not acceptable act in a workplace.

I drink water all day and wine with dinner. I love my water and can not get enough of it. I would advise anyone to make sure they drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins that accumulate in the body - it's a good tonic.

    Absolutely,

Mostly coffee, sometimes beer or vodka.
    Sip through the stuff.
    Does not affect productivity

When I had a day job, I used to drink a bottle of vodka or 1 doz beer overnight during stocktake. I used to do the stoctake alone and the figures were always correct.

    Alcohol is human fuel.
