My favorite quote comes from a movie called Fight Club.

“This is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time.”

I had to think about that one for just a bit, but I do really like it and
it's now in my forum quotes file. I did have something happening just
recently that was exciting enough that I was waking up after about
half my normal sleep time for a few days and I didn't seem to suffer
      from the lost sleep.

I enjoy quotes and am not sure I could pick out a favorite but here
are a couple (I know, that's cheating) from the same forum file.
"Come over to the dark side. We have cookies." Dana_W (Unfortunately
there was no application form for the cookies.)

And from a bike forum I enjoy (bikeforums.net) "Nothing goes right

pass the beer nuts." Norm from Cheers

Yes, my favorite quote is by Nietzsche: "That which does not kill you only makes you stronger."

I'm realizing it more and more each day. When you survive something painful, just the act of surviving it taught you something and made you more prepared to face the future.

      There are so many - but those that I can think of right now are;

"I love golden opportunities, I like to wave at them as they pass by" -unknown to me

"Money can't buy you happiness, but it does give you a more pleasant form of misery.
      -Spike Milligan

"I told you I was ill"
      -Spike Milligan's epitaph

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.
      Henry Ford

      and a rather timely one, also from Henry Ford;

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."

"Truth is the sword of us all" - Stiv Bator

And juist about ANY of the lyrics form another song by Stiv and TLotNC...

    Open Your Eyes

Video games train the kids for war
    Army chic in high-fashion stores
Law and order's done their job
Prisons filled while the rich still rob

    Assassination politics
Violence rules within' our nation's midst
Well ignorance is their power tool
You'll only know what they want you to know

    The television cannot lie
    Controlling media with smokescreen eyes
    Nuclear politicians picture show
The acting's lousy but the blind don't know

They scare us all with threats of war
So we forget just how bad things are
You taste the fear when you're all alone
They gonna git'cha when you're on your own

    The silence of conspiracy
Slaughtered on the altar of apathy
You gotta wake up from your sleep
'Cause meek inherits earth...six feet deep

Open your eyes see the lies right in front of ya

"Winning Isn't Everything, It's The Only Thing."

Be it for sports or a victory in the office, this quote gives me inspiration to achieve and move on to the next task. It can also refer to as one goal that we aspire to reach.

"Mind Over Matter, What You Don't Mind Doesn't Matter"

And this one is for less worries and taking tasks one problem at a time. It could mean that what you can conceive to be hard can be conquered through focus.

"Keep Your Friends Close, And Your Enemies Closer"

Mario Puzo's classic Godfather line reverberates through time, from family ties, to politics, and of course business. I also think this line was used in the Art Of War. Competition in business can be used for your own benefit in the long run. When you need to adapt to innovations by your opponents can make you stronger and flexible.

^ That's a good Italian saying that is very practical advice. When you have a potential "enemy" or someone who is out to take advantage of you in some way, the best way for you to protect yourself is to know the enemy. How they think, what they are after, how they plan.

Yeah, this reminds me of the quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

It's a choice, you can think of change as a something that happens outside of you or inside of you, and I think the second choice is more rewarding.

When I gave thought to the question of quotes, these are the one's that popped into my brain.

I actually came up with this first one when I was a younger, angrier man. Although I am not particularly proud of this, it did represent my attitude on taking abuse from others.

"Don't think you can crap down my throat, and then expect me to smile and lick my lips."

(I probably shouldn't have shared that one)

My grandfather once gave me some excellent advice. It is my signature file, and I try to live by it.

"I Can!" is much more important than "I.Q."

And, (I'm going to burn in hell for this) An old drunk I knew in my youth who tried to impart "manly knowledge" on an impressionable young boy, told me this. Although it would be years before I actually got to test his theory out, I was never able to forget it...no matter how hard I've tried . A catchy little diddy, though...

"When the weather's hot and sticky, that's not the time for dunking dicky.
When the frost is on the pumpkin, THAT'S the time for dicky dunkin'."

    (Maybe I've said too much...)

OK, ending on a positive note, I have done a lot of self-improvement work. This is a personal Mantra that I penned myself, and it has been very self-empowering and I am proud to be it's author.

    "The world is my oyster.
I've cracked the shell wide open,
    I'm eating my fill, and
I've got the Pearl in my pocket!"

I am not as serious as most of you. I am reading all of these high end inspirational quotes and I am reminded of a couple of people I know (knew).

My brother-in-law lives by "Failure is not an option" Krantz & "Winning is Everything".....He is miserable.

My best friend's credo was "The weak & small only represent what I have to climb over to get to the top".....He killed himself this year, after losing his high power job to a younger hungrier maverick with better climbing shoes.

I on the other hand, look in the mirror and like what I see, but I don't take him very serious, as my signature below indicates.

"Laugh, and the whole world laughs with you. Cry, and you cry alone."

      - finding joy in anyone's face is a dime a dozen but the moment you see someone cry, you don't cry with them then and there. You just stare and wonder why. Drama can make us stare into what beholds our emotions in times of sadness.

      "More money, more problems."
