I see this on the Olympics and I have to say... WTF?

Some guy pushes a big weight, and some other guys use brooms to clear its path... and this is an athletic event?

Am I just not Canadian enough? Or is this a really goofy "sport"?

    Exactly.

If they wanted a nice truly international sport to add to any Olympics. They should of added 1 Day - Cricket not Curling.

LOL. I guess curling had the biggest lobby that year for "New Winter Sports to be added to the Olympics".

How would cricket work in the winter Olympics? On ice skates?

I agree that cricket would be a worldwide sensation in the summer Olympics. Americans would be scratching their heads as usual, but everyone else would love it.

That might even make cricket worth watching.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

consider my head scratched....that is why there is baseball. Also, did some quick research and it looks like cricket was invented in england back in the 13th century.

As far as everyone else loving it, not so sure on that, mostly just the British colonies, the ones that didn't revolt anyways

If curling is considered a sport, then fishing should be included in the games

Careful guys there are some Scots lurking here, and curling being one of their
national games, you could be on thin ice!

Curling is for folks that think shuffle board is too fast-paced.

I've never curled myself, but I grew up around it. My dad was a fanatic and I have a cousin that was on a championship team. That said, I never watch it (or any other sports), but I can understand the fascination.

Curling, as I see it, is a macro scale billiards game. The precision, putting junk on the ball etc. is all there.

Of course if precision games aren't sports, then what's with Olympic pistol shooting? Not exactly a thrill a minute for non enthusiasts either.

Interesting to hear from those who grew up around it. Watching the Olympic coverage, it did remind me of both shuffleboard and billiards. Must be an acquired taste.
