Isn't it good to know the money is being taken care of so well?

      Ridiculous... simply ridiculous.

I don't see how people could do that with a clear conscious.

There is more to that, Sullivan pushed the board to approve mulit-million dollar bonuses even when the company was losing billions.

It is just not the bankers in Wall Street who were disgracefully greedy, it is the CEOs of most listed companies as well. There was a similar revulsion against CEO abuse after the Envron affair but nothing was done about it. The CEO's just kept on getting bigger and bigger bonuses and stock options that are completely detached from their company's performance. I just hope that somethingly finally will be done this time.

They have no concience or morality .... merely overwhelming
selfishness and greed. George Orwell's 1984 might be enlightening.

In the UK, from today many of these parasites will become surgically removed from absurd bonus arrangements. Any remaining ones will
most probably be found by the media and then sliced diced and
        grilled on the nearest BBQ.

        To paraphrase Apocalypse Now....
"I love the smell of bacon in the morning".

Alternatively, we could give them all a stetson, a six shooter and
a horse and send them off to Afghanistan or Iraq so the normal
troops could return home in one piece

I am still just reeling from this - it is like in the middle of a real tragedy of monumental proportions where people are losing their jobs, their homes, their savings, their retirement - you have the fat cats partying.

This is like 'adding insult to injury'. In your face, this is what we are doing with your money, yo. Too bad you can't afford to join us.

Am I ranting? who me? nobody here I can strangle so this will have to suffice. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Yes Allen - It WAS ILLEGAL to spend taxpayer funds, but now, thanks to the Bailout it is no longer illegal for them to do so. That is why many people were screaming so loudly. But a lot were just screaming because they thought it was about their money. It wasn't about the money, it was about the corporatism of the Government. Unless that bill is repealed - we are now under fascist law. Why is that such a surprise? It happened in Germany in the 30's and 40's - and the very same steps were taken to get us there. So why don't people understand what just happened? Our only prayer right now is that the Judiciary branch still has enough real judges instead of corporate judges to reverse the ruling, or to do a Hague on everyone involved.

Here is an interesting article that compares Operation Bernardt (the Nazis tried to flood Britain with fake notes in the hope that the economy would be destroyed.) All these notes the Fed are printing may have the same effect.

He's accusing the Fed of "Class Warfare". But then, isn't that what Cecil Rhodes said was the ultimate intent of the 'elite', many years ago: the transfer of wealth and power from the many to the few. Not surprised they can have no shame splashing out on manicures and pedicures.

Just another reason why I was, and still am, against the bailout. We are rewarding spoiled crooks who honestly have no idea how the majority of people live.

Maybe they should take all of their bonuses from last year, sell their gilded cages, and sell their overpriced stock at a lost to pay for thier own bailout.

I was under the impression that one of the stipulations of the bailout was that failing companies that were aided by it were going to be forced to NOT give huge bonuses to their piss poor managers. I guess AIG was bailed out prior to the bailout though weren't they?

You all aren't surprised are you?

This is just one more example in a long list outlining the absolute contempt with which these big cats hold the ordinary U.S citizens.

The big question should be 'what you all gonna do about it?'.

By the looks of it, more of the same is going to be voted into office in another month's time and as far as I can see - on this forum and throughout the web - many are arguing about the pros and cons of the two candidates, as if it's gonna make one iota of difference which one becomes president.

I'm %£^ing amazed that people can listen to the BS spooed forth by politicians, election after election, and yet keep making the same mistake of voting them in, given that no REAL or meaningful change ever takes place.

Do you actually believe in your heart that either Obama or McCain are gonna implement real change?

If something doesn't give soon we're all F%$*ed!

I don't live in the U.S and if it wasn't for the fact that what happens there is now effecting us all, I would leave you all to it.

The fact is, until there are millions of Americans out on the streets demanding that something is done about these crooks in Government and the entire system, NADA will be done.

Here's another poignant reminder of how absurd it is:

YouTube - Bush Jokes about WMD

Some sat and had lavish dinners while innocent people were literally losing their entire families in unimaginable horrors and young soldiers were giving their lives for a war based on a BIG lie.

Now, no one can tell me that this war was fought for the people of America - no matter what side of the divide they happen to be on.

The bailout is just another lie too. They did the same today in Britain.

I'm not trying to be dramatic here but it seems to me that most of these people are so, so far removed from the horrors they inflict. It beggars belief. They couldn't possibly do what they do otherwise.

Call me a 'conspiracy theorist' but it seems a little strange to me that the people who create the mess in the first place are the ones offering the solution. Never mind, that's just me being crazy again. After all, governments are here to protect us and defend our rights. Silly me!:p

I just found out about this, and this makes me really angry.
I went to aig's website and commented about this.
      Those ****ing assholes.

Those idiots should be fired, I'm setting things up so I don't pay
any more..., this is BS. Americans should be furious, if not they
deserve what they get. American should boycott AIG.

I really feel like calling the White House and if they don't do something to stop this,
      I'll make myself President.
