Hey Sal...I Finally Got Off My Butt

Hey Sal, after way too much laziness and plain old fear of failure, I finally
contacted our first publisher today...28 Records in LA.

I'm not going to shotgun this. I'm going to hit one at a time, give them a
chance to make an offer and then move on to the next one.

Naturally, if 4 to 6 weeks goes by and I don't hear from a publisher, I will
move on, but I want to give each one a fair chance as I am going to mention
this in my letter to them.

Hopefully, it will do 2 things.

1. Make them feel that they're special.
2. Make them realize how serious I am.

We'll see how it goes.

I will keep you posted of developments in this thread.

Val, they're already posted in another thread.

Just not sure where it is at the moment.

      Maybe Sal has a link.

I almost missed this thread Steve - I'm at the other place a lot now - much to do before opening the doors, ya know.

Scared hell. Steve, what can happen? Have you ever bent over to pick something up and had a rattlesnake starring you in the face? Or climbed 13,500 feet just to see an electric storm headed your way - or had to jump 15 feet into raging white water? Had a baby grizzly follow you and look up and see mom coming with nowhere to hide?

There are a lot of things out there to be scared of -- producers aren't one of them. Keep perspective. They can't hurt anything but your ego.

Anyhow Val - it's song, not songs. Steve might have more, but I only wrote lyrics for one.

    Hey Steven (and Sal),

I highly suggest this book..."The Power to Get In". It's not directly about sales, but rather how to get "in the door" of the actual person in power that makes the decisions, without having to go through the "normal process".

It uses some great psychology to apply serious pressure, called the "Circle of Leverage", and is one of my favorite books of all time...I recommend it to anyone in business...

And, it was written by a guy dealing with the same folks you are (although the techniques apply to just about any situation)

The author used to promote "Up With People" and his job was to get them gigs and record deals.

It's only a few bucks and I think it will help you in this project, plus in many unrelated projects in the future. At the very least it will help you cut through the BS and speed things up quite a bit.

Sounds good. When's the metal version comming.
It's funny that you would say that. I am pure heavy metal and would love nothing more than to see this thing done by one thrashing band - Distrurbed, Ill Nino, Megadeth, etc. Or even Stabbing Westward or Puddle of Mudd.
There's a bat's chance in hell that will ever happen - but hey, we can always dream, can't we.

Steven, have you discussed your musical goals on the WF? I know you're a singer-songwriter but I don't know what your ambitions are.
