I recently purchased a wii and I think it is quite possibly the best gaming system on the market.

This last week I took a short vacation with my family and took the kids to see their grandparents.

We had a wii party in the community room of the condo complex where my Dad lives.

My father who is wheelchair bound and lacks some feeling and responsiveness in his hands and fingers went wild with the wii games.

He loved wii bowling, golf and the driving games.

He would never be able to play complicated games that require a lot of button pushing and combinations because he lacks feeling in his fingers and cannot grip well...

But the wii allowed him to whoop and holler and work up a sweat from his wheel chair with the kids...

And yes the grandmas joined in too...

All of them loved it and it was one of the most entertaining and interactive times we have had as an extended family in years.

The best game was bowling and it was even more fun than going to a bowling alley.

By the end my 66 year old quadriplegic father and his wife were convinced they must have one to play with their neighbors and friends.

No other game system is so much fun for so wide an age group than the wii. And best of all game play can be a social experience.

I chuckled when one game I got that came with a mat called "outdoor adventure" instructed me to wipe the mat free of sweat when I was done... then I played it... I was dripping with sweat by the time I was done. You get sweaty playing many of the wii games. They can deliver real workouts.

My wife likes the wii fit as it allows her to excercise in simple segments in between taking care of the kids and everyday chores.

The kids who are 5 and under even enjoy playing games like bowling and tennis and other hand eye coordination games and the athletic games.

I have always enjoyed playing games... but they can get tedious and boring after a while of clicking buttons...

This is one system that does not have that problem and it does not require a lot of games to stay entertained... most are fun any time you play them no matter how many times you play them.

If you have considered getting a wii... definately get it.

Also I researched out the best games... the games with the best reviews so that I would not have to spend money on games that I may not enjoy.

The games I definately would not want to be without are:

Wii sports
Wii Fit
Outdoor Adventure (a two player mat game)
There are many other great games and I have a few of the traditional and not so traditional ones but those are my top three for sweat value and interactivity. People can truly get a real workout and even into the habit of exercise playing those games as well.

The wii is absolutely the best all around gaming system. We had the same experience with my mother, who is 84 years old. She should be in a wheelchair but refuses, but we sat her in a chair in front of the tv and gave her a controller and she was bowling with the best of us!
And as Josh said, many if the games will make you sweat.

What makes the wii very unique in my mind is two fold:

    1) The controls tend to be easy because it's all movements not buttons. Because of this everyone can easily play and compete against each other.

    2) It tends to have "social games" so people enjoy playing with one another. It's very viral for lots of reasons as well.

Like what you described, it's the only system I know that will have several generations all playing and competing with one another.

I want to purchase Wii just so I can play Mario Kart. It looks fun, and I'm dying to be a Mario fan again. I miss the old ataris.

I've had a wii since they first came out and absolutely LOVE the Fit and the Sports discs. Hubby is a champ at tennis and I own the ski jump game.

Seeing grandparents enjoy games as much as you do is a treat!!
