T minus 8 days until our Wedding. T minus 10 days until we leave for Jamaica on Our Honeymoon. Even though avid readers, my soon-to-be-wife recently told me that I'm only allowed to take one Book on our honeymoon. For those days basking in the sun of Jamaica's beaches, apparently if I took more than one book, I would be 'inclined' to pay more attention to the books, rather than to her. lol.... So, now, I must figure out which one to take. One choice is really quite limiting, but I need help determining which one to take. Here are my options: (Believe it or not, I have yet to read any of these yet) Has anyone read any of these yet? Would your recommend them? 1) The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss, Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich 2) Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard 3) Smart Couples Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Creating a Rich Future for You and Your Partner (I'm leaning towards this one because it'll look pretty good, to her, that I'm reading something to better us BOTH...lol) or 4) Other. (I'd LOVE to hear what you recommend! Thanks!) |

Switch off, man - forget the books... she'll appreciate it ![]() If you get bored, which I hope you don't (on your honeymoon) - whip out a notepad and start writing your own. BTW, congratulations. |

Forget reading, you'll benefit a lot more from an "info vacuum" for a few days than you ever would from a book.

First, congratulations! Second, I agree with others here, forget reading, relax and enjoy. That doesn't really answer your question though, so I'm going recommend a book for when you get back. Secrets of a Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker I checked this out of the library and read it. I liked it so much I bought a copy for myself and am on my second read now. The book reveals the differences in how millionaires think as compared to the poor and middle class. And shows you how to change your thinking in areas where it matters most. Enjoy that honeymoon, Soldier, and that's an order! PS - I'm former Navy, so when I give an order, I expect it to be followed! |

Ditto to all the others who basically said, "Are you out of your f***ing mind? Who reads on a honeymoon? Relax and enjoy, man." With that said, if you're gonna read, I'll pick Smart Couples Finish Rich, just because it has a couples theme. |

You're going on honeymoon in Jamaica. WTF do you need a book for? You have your new bride, beaches, steel drums, rum drinks, jerk pork and chicken, ganja. What else you need? |

| Get that mind out of the gutter! BTW, it's delicious if you like spicy hot. History Jerk pork is believed to have been conceived when the Maroons introduced African meat cooking techniques to Jamaica which were combined with native Jamaican ingredients and seasonings used by the Arawak. The method of smoking meat for a long period of time served two practical purposes, keeping insects away from the raw meat and preserving it for longer once it has been cooked. This process also introduces a strong smoky flavour to the meat. There are two commonly held theories regarding how the name "Jerk" came to be used. One is that it originates from the Spanish word "Charqui", used to describe dried meat. Over time this term evolved from "Charqui" to "Jerky" to "Jerk". Another theory is that the name derives from the practice of jerking (poking) holes in the meat to fill with spices prior to cooking. Nowadays, the word "Jerk" is used as a noun to describe the seasoning applied to jerked food and as a verb to describe the process of cooking used. © 2006 Jamaica Travel and Culture .com |

A Quote that changed my life... By Jim Rohn Where Ever You Are... Be There! One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being. While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we face at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems at home. We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren’t absorbing the message. As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by. We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time. Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a sunset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of becoming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And until we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well. --- Hopefully you will only have 1 honeymoon in your whole life. You will have many opportunities to read books. Focus on how you and your spouse can get the MOST out of every day on your honeymoon. You will be better for it. |

Unlike some of the jokers here, I can see spending one afternoon sometime in the middle of the week on beach, reading and relaxing. Take this from a man who has been happily married for almost three decades... DO NOT TAKE A BUSINESS BOOK! Find yourself a good novel, something like a good Tom Clancy or a good mystery. Something with enough pages that if she wears you down to a nubbin, you can escape for awhile until you recharge. Here's another vote for finding some good jerk chicken or pork... And if both of you aren't bow-legged and walking funny when you get back, shame on you. ![]() Congratulations... |

If you can't enjoy your honeymoon with HER, what is the point of even getting married? This is your time to make her feel like she was an IDIOT for not marrying you sooner. One wrong move, and she could feel the opposite. BTW jerk seasoning is nice, and they have it on LOTS of meats. You CAN get it in many places, including the US, but I believe it is considered a carribian method. Steve |

Yes I've read 1) 4 hour work week the first edition ![]() I reccommend you get the latest second edition one as it has more examples ![]() Yes what I got out of it was it open my thoughts up to new ways of living and how to achieve things - I'd surf over to tims website and read some of the blogs etc and see what you think - Google it I was quite enthused by it - I told a number of people about it - I like to think one of them decided to take redundancy ... that might not sound right but "I" know what I mean XD![]() It was preparation for me to come out of "PARK" and step up a gearHope this helps Kind regards Ken

Hi, I have an excellent suggestion. Bring an empty notepad and write love letters to your wife. Leave one on your bed everyday for her to read! Write about the moment that you are in. You will never have another honeymoon again like that so write about your experience. Almost like a journal. Then later publish the journal and make some money off of it! LOL!! I'm thinking like an internet marketer! Good luck! |

Well, I'd say take Shantaram by Gregory Roberts. 936 Pages to read and you don't have to do anything else on the trip. ![]() Sumit. PS. Not speaking with experience, but I don't think reading books is what you do on a honeymoon. PPS. Congrats, btw. |

XDSeriously what I got from it was new ways of think and how to cut down on doing things for things sake - eg emails etc he scheduled times twice a day, set peoples expectations of when they would be answered , if you get a chance google his name or book title read some of the blogs and get an idea of how he's viewing things there really is quite a few interesting ideas - perhaps not to follow to the letter - I don't see it as a blueprint - more of an ryr opener thinking out of the box fo possibilities... Have a look and see if its up your street so to speak.... - Let us know what you think Hope it helps![]() Kind regards Ken
