Do you listen to music when you work? If so, to what/who?

Do any of you listen to music when you work? I find that I have specific music I listen to when working. Be it re-writing a bunch of articles or just cleaning up the house and wanting to get it over with quickly, I find some music puts an extra burst in my step.

Lately, Knights of Cydonia by Muse, two of their entire albums really, have been burning a hole on my music player.

I've got my now almost useless, except for music, windows 98 machine set up near my main computer and I have thousands of mp3s so I am playing them all the time. Mostly 80's rock. As I was reading your post, Cinderella - Gypsy Road was playing. I listen to music most of the time I'm online and working.

A few years back someone recommended anything with no words and a certain BPM if you're doing brainwork that requires concentration, like application development.

Try googling Alpha Romance - completely sucks as an album, but it does tend to put you in a work trance!

I can't listen music when I think. I understand that I enjoy music, I swing in the tact of music and can't focus on my work. But when it's manual labour like cleaning room then music helps to finish work faster.

I find that listening to music or watching a comedy can get the creative juices and ideas flowing if I hit a brick wall...

And man, if you ever get a chance to see MUSE live - go for it. They're probably the best live band around at the moment!

I am a fan of loads of music types from HipHop to Indie and a bit of House/Dance.

I like to listen to the radio throughout the day and being in the UK I quite like listening to Hot 97 in New York online. Although, the playlist is repetitive so I can't listen for too long!

But, I find music as a whole inspirational throughout the day when I am working. However, if I am writing an ebook for exaample, music can be a put off!

I always listen to music when working. It keeps me awake and focused on my work.

Yes, of course. Music is a good inspiration, I mean, when I have it playing on a background, work is so light for me. And as of now, I'm listening to mellow music because it fits my mood.

Depends. Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. Music can help me be productive, but it depends on the type of music. Classical or up beat music works, but anything annoying like heavy metal messes with my brain.

I like dub, ambient, psybient, chillout, deep house, noise (rain, thunderstorms, white noise, jet engines, lasers)

      Schiller is great.

Also some of the spin off groups from the enigma project and the vocalists they work with.

Classical is good, for work I prefer Bach. Some jazz. Whatever the mood calls for. The Avatar soundtrack is also something I've been listening to a lot lately.
