Well, blog spam is getting really interesting.

Not only are IMers teaching it, they're actually providing the content for it.

Check this out.

This is a spam comment on my blog

Hey I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading your blog. You have
good views, Keep up the good informative info Just a quick question
though. Are you making enough money from blogging?

Look, I am blogger myself and I know how hard it is to make a living from
blogging. The whole thing changed once my friend introduced me to
Blogging to the Bank 2010. I now can support my whole family from
blogging alone. Just check it out

(URL REMOVED)

Okay, what's so interesting about it?

Nothing by itself...BUT...I received this same exact comment, TO THE
LETTER, with the exception of the URL, from two completely different
bloggers.

So, somebody out there is not only teaching you to spam blogs, but also
providing ready made content that you can just copy and paste.

Add URL and you're done.

I plan on doing some research to find out what sleezeball is actually
teaching this crap.

He just copy/paste the same message over and over again.

Well... that does not explain the different URL.
Guess there is a few sites providing such a service.

I think this is right. Actually..i think that these repetitive links are coming from a backling building service(s). I get a lot of nonsensical garbage for posts on my blogs, but some are somewhat readable. But they come with such repetition i find it hard to believe that someone has actually found their way to my blog through normal channels. I'm pretty sure that this forum has people cherry picking them from sigs to build up a backlink service of some kind

Yes, you raise a very interesting point. Some people may or may not agree, but you presented it in a way that makes a lot of sense.

Another thing that makes a lot of sense is the new Making Money From Forums guide. It was written by my good personal friend, Gunga Din. Just click on the link below and you will be on your way to BIG FORUM CASH!

  • The worst part of it is that it defeats the whole purpose of blogging which is to share ideas. I don't mind it when someone links to their own site from my blog -- unless they're not adding anything to the discussion or they're linking to some scammy/spammy splog.

Actually, if they say something halfway interesting and their blog is related in some way to mine, it's great -- it gets you a relevant outbound link and some UGC.

Blog commenting can be great on other peoples sites but it has to be relevant, I would not even dream of posting a spam comment on a blog just to share my link as it is clearly a waste of my time...it took time to post that, so why not at least make it relevant or ask a question that gets someone to clarify? lol

If I have nothing to share about someones post I will never say "good post", I will always try to ask something further or give another view.

Great post! Are you a journalist? You write so well! I'm going to add you to my RSS reader!

    ***

    Seriously though...

It sucks, but it has been going on for quite some time. After all, IMers many years ago were some of the first to jump on the idea of using blog commenting software to write generic posts and get links. They promoted the idea, they promoted the software, and they created their own versions of the original software.

So it was just a matter of time before someone created the commenting templates, too.

    Cheers,
    Becky

I thought I read a while ago you don't allow comments on your blog? I liked that idea, it cuts down on having to filter through all the junk. Who sees the spam comment you posted on here? Nobody, except you? I don't see what the problem would be unless they found a way to hack into your blog to post the comment so it was viewable by everyone?

That's frustrating. A lot of people are just extremely short-sighted and think spamming lots of different sites will make them a few bucks really fast. None of these people are ever going to build a real business online though, so you probably won't see them around for long

The only problem is that there is always a steady stream of new people coming on willing to spam you

They are the same kind of people as kids who spend hours scamming kids on computer games for armor that would take them 5 minutes to acquire legitimately.

Sometimes I think people should have to take an internet proficiency test before being allowed to surf on their own...

Actually, it was caught by my spam filter and not exactly posted. But what
I was trying to point out is it now seems there are templates that marketers
are giving other people to use to make these comments.

I hate when people get all wishy washy and won't form an opinion one way or the other about something.

Honestly telling you that some individuals have also hired some students who do spam commenting for them and they get paid for this actually when the race of money is introduced in some system than it destroys the main purpose of system because everybody use such system as a money making machine

You may be assuming it was 2 different people. Could be one spammer using different ips and addresses to pimp different websites.

Naturally, it would be for that wonderfully, legitimate, Blogging to the Bank.

Well Brian, I can only go by the evidence on my blog. The one account was
a man and the other was a woman.

Maybe he or she is practicing super stealth marketing.

        Steve,

There's a new course out on hermaphro-blogging that is crushing it.

I'm surprised nobody's left a backlink on your blog about it...

Oh the wretched blog spammers. I often get these "heart felt" comments to my post that have some crazy url attached to it. If they put their efforts into a good practice, they would have a quality business on their hands.

They evolve quickly though. They must be getting good enough results.

I guess the only thing that surprises me is that you were surprised by this.

It amazes me that those (like you) that are ethical assume others are too. When it is documented the % of sociopaths in English speaking countries has tripled in 50 years and it is well documented that over 80% of people will justify anything if they believe it somehow effects their livelihood or ability to feed their family.

Fact is, in my opinion, most marketers use what capacity for moral aptitude they do have sparingly. And when in this economy you have millions of new people trying to make a living on line that come from a background of neighborhood BBQs and have some strange idea to trust people until they prove they are untrustworthy, that just brings out the sharks and the feeding frenzy begins.

(Pretty negative post I am making, Huh?)

When I 1st got on the internet in an attempt to make money, the things people attempted to sell me and what they did sell me would make a lifer in Sing Sing blush. These are people that are IM household names and that have followers in the millions (or at least 100 thousands) and I have seen 'worshiped' by other IMers. The finance people that conned enough people to put an entire world into a global recession would not do some of the things I have had done to me when I was a newbie and seen done to others.

I am far from naive... I was in the car biz for 27 years and worked with snakes and sharks every day. NONE of them were 10% as bad as half the crap presented to me. Some one is teaching people how to spam blogs for back-links is NOTHING compared to what is going on out there. I am amazed that this is even an issue. This is like an 8 year old lifting a loaf of bread from the Wa-Wa compared to most of the crap that is going on.

You can say, Mark is just bitter. Say it if it makes YOU feel better and helps your denial of reality, but ethical people in the IM niche are the VAST minority. That isn't a 'guess'. That is tested.

    Steven,

This kind of thing has been going on a very long time. That's why all my blog comments are moderated.

I got one on one of my blogs today telling me they thought my blog theme was great - did I design it myself... (it is horrendous...I know because I DID design it myself LOL). Then of course there was the link...

What you saw was most likely in the product owners Affiliate Tools section. Blogging to the Bank - what else would they do but teach you how to use blogs, right

Let's not forget - as long as you or I have been on line and know how bad this is and how ineffective, new people sign up daily and think they've discovered something to make them easy money - because that's what they're told.
