Hi Guys,

I want to move to the Philippines for a few months. Do you have some advice or do you know someone who has experience about life there, about prices, how to find and rent a flat etc.

Thanks

    Hi Marko,

I am a Filipino and I think I can give you some advice on this

First of all having a relative here would be the best idea since they can probably orient you about the way of life.

There are plenty of flats, houses, apartments around but trust me here you have to be VERY careful when choosing your location. Again having a relative/friend or anyone you actually trust will be a big help.

Regarding prices I can say from experience that people from other countries find stuff here cheaper. I have a few foreign relatives who came for a visit and they were surprised at the prices being so low. For example 1 USD is currently 45PHP.

5 USD can get you a big meal in a fast food joint or even a small restaurant.

3 USD can get you a movie ticket. But of course you still have to watch your wallet.

My biggest advice to you is consider security one of your top priorities. Foreigners are hot in the eyes of local thieves. Things can get pretty ugly if your not careful.

I hope this is of help to you.

If you have more questions you can pm me.

    Have a blessed day.

    -Aljiro

[P.S. This thread should be moved to OFF TOPIC]
[P.P.S. Thanks to the person who moved this ]
