Howdy music fans...

This is my first attempt at a video. Really any type of video.

It has the lyrics, the song, and some stock images that (hopefully) punctuate the song.

Here it is...

Let me know what you think.

If you'd like to leave any comments on the video at YouTube, it would be much appreciated.

Also, if there are any songs you'd like me to make into a video, I'd be happy to try.

Rock on!

So that blind people can hate them as well.

There's alot going on...the pictures are moving quickly with the lyrics, and then the lyrics themselves are moving in the background behind the main text that is stable. That part of it makes a persons eyes wander a bit, but aside from that, the only other thing I can think of is a copyright act being filed your way...lol.

Other than that, it's just fine.

The song would lend itself well to some neat visuals. Darn YouTube and their 10 minute time limit!

Have you ever even been to YouTube? I suppose it's possible that could happen. These are just for fun, and I don't use any copyrighted images.

Other than that, I really do appreciate the feedback. I will be sure to slow things down a bit and keep the text more still. As I'm still trying to figure out how to make them, I will be trying different things - your comments will definitely help.

      Rock on!

I'm talking about the actual "record Label" companies who Elton John works for coming in and getting all cranky with your video. Sometimes they do that...and then youtube disables the audio...that's what I meant.

Some artists have some very serious companies going in for them removing practically everything that is not on the channel from the company itself. I don't know which company Elton John is labeled under, but since he's pretty popular, just figured there must be someone going around citing copyright somewhere...lol.

As for the text, I found my eyes going sideways (LOL), trying to read the main text, yet watching the text in the background.

But you know whatever program you have used to make this, I have seen videos using this before, however mostly this style was used just in the beginning, and the rest of the lyrics were still.

not bad. but the moving text does make things a bit busy. Its a cool effect though. Maybe just use it during the chorus?

      Thanks, Michael.

      Excellent point!

It's so easy to overdo things. I will be sure to keep that in mind as I do future videos.

I do have to admit that the moving words could be used more judiciously, now that I think about it. But you did an incredible job of matching the pictures to the lyrics, Michael.

I'm curious - where did you come up with the pics?

Can't wait to see more videos because if that's only a first attempt, your future videos should be awesome as you improve your skills.

          Thanks, Tina.

I got the pictures from a the free stock photography site, stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site (and I make sure to only use the images that can be used for my purposes).

There are a few more stock image sites to look into. Once that's done, there will be more images to choose from.

That's what I meant. But you know....he's "legally" able to do whatever, lol until the Label themselves come to take it down. Maybe the label won't.

Some labels don't do that, and allow youtubers and others to make videos, because it promotes the artist at the same time.

I see what you mean now, acrasial. I'm doing these for fun, and for other's enjoyment. I suppose it's a possibility that they could get pulled, but I hope not.

Thanks, Kim. Yes, I will definitely be more cautious of scrolling background text in future videos.

Thank you, Laura. You can consider the scrolling text gone (mostly) in future videos. Not 100% on all the rules, either. As mentioned, these are for enjoyment, but not sure what difference that ultimately makes.

Definitely enjoyed this - would like to see what you can do with Billy Joel's We didn't start the fire - bet there are some good images to go with that. The scrolling text didn't bother me but using it a bit less as others have suggested would be an improvement. For me and my old eyes, the white text on some of the slides was hard to see - so maybe some contrast/off white or even a switch to a darker color on some slides would help.
    Keep em coming Michael!

Great suggestions, Jack! I noticed the same thing, but didn't know how to change the text color when I made the video. I do now.

Now, about this whole "We Didn't Start The Fire" thing...

That would be a real challenge as the stock images don't include images of people (for the most part), but it could be a fun one to tackle nevertheless.

Pretty professional looking for a first video! Good job!
Interesting angle, Laura. That could work with songs where people know the words better.

As far as hearing me sing goes...well, our final band practice is this coming Sunday, and we are scheduled to go into the studio on April 10th. Not making any promises, but you never know.

I listened to everybody's constructive critcism and made another video. I hope I'm moving in the right direction with these.

Any feedback is welcome. Such as:

What do you like about it?

    What would make it better?

How does it compare to the first one - good or not-so-good?

    Thanks in advance.

If you'd like to leave comments for the video itself, the page is here...

p.s. Any suggestions for future videos? Anything rock and roll from the 1950s to the 2010s is fair game.
