P.T. Barnum said "There's a sucker born every minute."

He was right.
Most people are suckers!

I HATE hype!

I thought most people hated hype.
I thought the age of hype was over.

WRONG!

I've tested and tested, and tested.
And being straight-forward and honest in sales copy or emails doesn't convert.

The "soft sell" doesn't convert.

The "used-car-salesman" approach converts best.

Bold headlines, bold, exaggerated, border-line lies are what sells.

"House Break Your Dog In One Lazy Weekend" sells.

So, I'm going to follow suit!

Apparently that's the only way to go from making a living to getting filthy rich.

Ethics and character be damned!

Don't give up. This is not the way of the warrior - fight to the death!

It is always difficult to please all of the people all of the time but just keep going and soon you will find your target audience.

        Definitely don't give up!

Don't be afraid to sell... but never lie.

Apparently that's the only way to go from making a living to getting filthy rich.
What's wrong with making a living? You're making a living doing what you want, right?

It's sad but true. The used car sales approach typically works. People on the net really need to be convinced or they won't buy.

It's true, you gotta be able to sell to make it on the web.....or hell in any sales role.

    Consider this...

Dan Kennedy says, "If you're not getting a 10% refund rate you're not selling hard enough".

But, then "Over-deliver" is the rule.

Well, if you over-deliver, you shouldn't get 10% refunds.

I'm getting close to tossing in the towel on this whole IM shtick too.
I get all these links to sales copy - the things go on and on and on!
By the time I'm sold and ready to give it a try..they are still spouting off like some cheap villain in one of those comic flicks.
    Enough with the dialogue already!
Then when they get to the end they are so insecure about the value or maybe they don't think the hook is in deep enough - the fish might get away!
They start loading on bonus after bonus...a whole truckload of crap I don't want!
By the time it's over I'm fed up with the whole deal and closing the window - but of
course that isn't the end of it - here's that "Wait! Don't go! We've a special discount for you!"
I've just about had it with the whole IM scene - the biggest part of it is - I never wanted to get into IM in the first place!
All I wanted was to find a way to make some cash at home (I'm homebound due to my disability) so that I could help supplement my SSI and take care of my family.
I never wanted to be mega wealthy - these gurus and the like talking about making thousands and tens of thousands per day/month - if I made 5k in a week I'd be thrilled! I can't even imagine what someone would do with over 20k per month - me? I'd pay off my house so that I wouldn't get foreclosed on!
I just want enough cash so I can breath - not stress about cut offs, juggle cash to see how much I can pay per bill, not cut back on things that we need cause we don't have enough funds.

My dream was to get my kids to Disney Epcot (cheap way to take them round the world to get a taste of other places) but it's been over 20 years - I live in GA now, it's the closest I've been able to get so far. The house I got was a white elephant, but it's all we have to live in. It would be nice if I could get in over $1027/mo cash - (trouble is if the $200 in Child support don't show it's a scramble to recycle and try to scrape up the funds for the bills.)

It's starting to hurt - getting the emails, the hype of thousands of dollars. This guy, he claims that he's not worked in a job for over a decade & he made a video about clickbank - in an hour it showed that he raked in almost 2k - I asked him if he could tell me what he did to make that happen. All I got was delay tactics, then finally he said that it was a bit more involved than what the video showed. So what's the truth?

I'm a writer by passion, I'm a layout designer by trade, but I need to find a way to bring in some income streams to take care of my family. The economy crashed all over my design business, it's dried up mostly. It's hard to write when there's constant stress over bills, money & the mortgage servicer waiting to pounce. I've been told by journalists, authors and other writers that I've got a gift. Well, it's not going to do me any good if I can't get it out there.

I've got some things at Writer's Cafe, but lately I've been thinking of entering some contests. I'm getting desperate to earn some money (mortgage dude just raised my payments while I'm trying to get them to do a modification to lower them. That 10.8 interest is killing me, plus no one will help since I only owe $40k on the place. It's nuts!!) I know that I want to be a writer, ever since I was a kid. But I've always got the naysayers telling me it's not real work, get a job. Well, I've had them too and they didn't give me much satisfaction. Plus job is just another way of saying "Just over broke".

I want to work, I want to get paid and I want to do what I love. Trouble is I don't see how I can do them all at the same time. It's like all those professionals that are over qualified - you got the skill, the desire and the need, but no one will give you a chance.
Whoever said that money won't buy happiness sure didn't need it then - cause when you don't have it, it sure can make life rather uncomfortable. If I had more money coming in, I could get better health care, I could make sure our bills are all paid, that the house was fixed up so that the bills wouldn't be so high in the first place, I could make sure that my kids got better health care and had more opportunities. Would that take tens of thousands of dollars per month? No - it would just take more than the 1K we are struggling to get by on now.

Well, that's my rant - thanks for letting me do it. I really just want to make some money - but nothing has worked for me. I'd even work for a guru - that guy with the clickbank video is constantly complaining that he's always busy. I offered to do some work for him if he'd pay me - no response yet. I even did a mock up web site for him - (his own website for a Florida villa really needed work) so I offered to do it for him if he'd share some of the stuff he's doing to make money. Nothing back about that...though he said he was interested in fixing up his site.
Been a month now - not a whisper from him...

Like I said - I'm so disappointed by the whole thing...what's the point? I'm not getting anywhere - the starr-gate.com website I was working on gets no more traffic than any other site I've tried to do affiliate stuff on... may as well give up.

A sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results - well then, I need to stop the insanity... cause this mess is driving me crazy!!

I'd be willing to listen to a voice of reason - just no more hype..please...

Lying isn't the best option, you'll ruin your karma / vibration / energy etc whatever you want to call it..
    BUUUUUT
You gotta sensationalize it.. in the world of IM you can't say.. pretty good product for 9.99 when everything else sells for 20.. you gotta hit em where it hurts.. IE
TIRED OF PAYING $20 for X.. Pay 9.99 and buy it from ME! - this works
My 9.99 product is a good product -- this isn't going to work as well as the above.

A great book on direct marketing, "Direct Mail Copy That Sells" by Herschelll Gordon Walker.

He defines the difference between "cheating" and "lying".

    "cheating" is allowed. "lying" isn't.

"Cheating" is when you see an actor pretending to be a doctor.
He's stating factual information under a guise.

"Lying" is falsification of the truth.

Another example that applies to IM.

    "Perceived Value"

I recently made a minor change to my sales copy.
I took a bonus product and added it to the main product to create a "package".
I made a minor change to the sales copy indicating how the "bonus" product worked hand-in-hand with the ebook.
I raised the price by 30% and saw no change in CR.

And, for the record, the added product is a legitimate $47 product.

      No downline?????

      That's one of your problems.

      Leave that MLM stuff alone.

If you have to recruit people who have to recruit people in order for you to make any money - stay away from it.

Move on to niche affiliate marketing or some type of adsense model.
