Children of Men is a movie set in the near future, wherein civilisation is collapsing after people lose the ability to have children. It's a completely under-rated movie that didn't get nearly as much acclaim as it deserved.

Have a look at this scene, all done in a single shot on a hand-held camera. Apparently, it took 14 days to prepare:

I guess they are the distributor but, as an American company, it's strange that they would have it blocked in the US, but not blocked outside it.

Actually, maybe they just don't like Swamperland.

Just for you, Dave, here's the movie in text (since video is verboten)...

"Set in Britain in 2027, the movie explores a grim world in which two decades of global human infertility have left humanity with less than a century to survive. Societal collapse, terrorism, and environmental destruction accompany the impending extinction.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom--perhaps the last functioning government-- persecutes a seemingly endless wave of illegal immigrant refugees seeking sanctuary. In the midst of this chaos, Theo Faron, a political activist turned bureaucrat, must find safe transit for Kee, an African refugee with a secret that must be protected at any cost."

MOST countries have a treaty with the US that they will acknowledge and enforce copyrights. Those that don't , or that NBC is not aware of or doesn't view as a loss, might be allowed to see it. This isn't that unusual. Local markets do the same with sports games here.

Well, Ireland might be a small enough market to ignore, but I was initially told about the movie by someone from London, who pointed me to the same clips. It seems unlikely that the British market would be considered small-fry. Also, both of the clips above seem to have been uploaded by people in the US (according to their channels).

Anyway, whatever the reason, you guys are missing some pretty good movie making!

Yeah, and I am pretty sure you(ireland and britain) are BOTH under the treaty. Maybe they don't know about you, or the film hasn't hit your area yet, etc.... You would think youtube(owned by GOOGLE) would block ALL such content. OH WELL...

If it's either, it's likely the former, as the movie is 4 or 5 years old. Granted, I do live in the arsehole of nowhere, but, still, movies don't take that long to reach us.

Damn. Embedding is disabled for the video. If you double-click on the video, it'll open in a new page (well worth it!).

Have a look at this clip too (embedding NOT disabled). An action sequence and a super-long tracking shot all rolled into one:

I remember reading something that was talking about the scene in the forest, where they run into the roadblock. Apparently that was all shot as one continuous scene. When you see the movie you'll see that its a pretty action packed sequence.

That's the clip in post #3. Is that not visible either? It is pretty impressive (although the first clip is even more so).

Clive Owen doesn't get the credit he deserves. Whether it's totally over the top like Sin City and Shoot'em Up or masterworks like Children of Men he is a genuine presence and lends credibility. Aside from Sin City he just doesn't seem to get the box office. Sad.
