Question about getting copyright permissions

Hello Warriors,

I have a question to ask the experts. How do people market huge brands for them? For example, if we want to make souvenirs like T-shirts for a famous brand - say Jaguar (the famous car), or Evanescence (the famous music band), or Google (duh..lol). What do we have to do in order to advertise them.

In one point, I can see that we are actually helping them to become more famous, but on another point, we are using their trademarks. I've heard Apple being really tough on some of these cases. But then Apple is known for its self-centered behavior and turning into suing experts.

I'm an expert when it comes to web design and development. I have plenty of warriors hiring me for their web development too. But I'm not YET a marketing or law expert so I seek advice from you gurus.

Thank you.

Regards,
Shahz

Why not keep it to yourself?

After all, it's not like you've ever asked this forum for anything.

      Oh, wait.

I would have thought the answer is NO. Companies are really protective of their copyrights and trade marks so will not usually give permission. After all they have their reputation to think of. LOL

Exactly. Thats the point of asking. Because they're protective about their copyrights, they're at the same time concerned about opportunities of expansion. My research told me about ways to get permissions from companies. So far, the best is to get written permissions with black and white print. Looking in a point of view, if we were to make their businesses better, they would happily provide license for using their copyrights. But the challenge is to actually put in good words how to convince them. It wasn't that difficult after all.

      Thanks for the input guys.
