It will fade out soon....there's just obviously nothing else juicy to report on and this was the best the media could come up with...Perhaps to draw attention away from their doom and gloom messages they play 24/7 about the economy.

I felt bad that the guy woke up to reporters camped outside of his house all night.

If he makes out on this gig though...next time I hope it is me they put in the news!

Some of those posting need to check their facts.

This guy asked a simple question of a candidate that came to HIS location. He didn't seek Obama out - he just asked a question. It was the answer given that made this real news.

The answer led to widespread alarm because BO talked about the redistribution of wealth - which is a socialistic view that this country has never bought into. It's because of the answer that this guy has been overrun by dems trying to find an "agenda" for his question.

The attacks on this citizen have come from the left - the liberal blogs and Obama supporters - when they decided to "investigate" this person who dared to ask a hard question.

If you do any research, you would know that. McCain has defended the guy as having the right to ask the question.

I don't know what party Joe the Plumber is a member of - but is it written somewhere that you can only ask a question if you are a "follower" of a candidate?

I think this entire episode is disgusting and it will be interesting to hear this guy's view of what has happened.

He asked a question and has reporters camped on his lawn. CNN made a point yesterday - that in spite of all the coverage of Ayers, no reporters showed up there to get comments.

Sam Joseph is a republican. John McCain is the one that made a big deal about Joe the Plumber. Watch this entire thing blow up on McCain's face.

Sam Joseph is not a plumber either and it does not matter. John McCain is using him but yet the man does not make up to $250K a year so he will be benefiting from Obama's tax cut plans.

John McCain will give tax cuts to the rich. Cindy McCain just received $1.5 million in tax cuts back and she made $4.8 million last year, and she is already a multimillionaire. What is wrong with having Cindy McCain pay the taxes that she used to pay during Ronald Reagan time and not to get the tax cut she got under GWBush?

Why should the rich be so greedy? Why shouldn't the little middle class people that work hard get a tax cut? If the correct word is wealth distribution for that action, so be it. It is time for the middle class to get a sizable tax cuts under the Obama administration.

John McCain is doing a smoke screen as if he cares about plumbers. Plumbers do not make more than $250,000 per year.

Please provide proof because in a small family, I understand that everybody reports their own income personally. If they made $250k and when it is reported individually what each person makes plus all the business deductions, they will all still get a tax cut as a family under Obama tax cut plan. Further more, they may even all get free health care under the universal healthcare or 50% deduction to their healthcare.

Ok I'll try to dig up some tax returns for you.

Back in NYC I had this kid working for me and her dad owned a small family plumbing business. I know he made over a million a year and he probably paid the sons 100 to 150 a year. That was about 10 years ago.
They had some laborers that wrere probably only making 15 to 20 an hour too.

I worked for my dad as a medical doctor and he paid all of us in order to get his tax cuts. It is done in families all the time.

One million dollars is not too much under Obama plan if you distribute the money among your children.

The 5% will not get a tax increase except that the tax cut given to them under the present Bush Administration will not be extended. It will remain at the rate of the Ronald Reagan Administration.
So the taxes will increase as the tax cuts instituted by Bush will be discontinued.

There is nothing wrong with increasing more business that stay in America and rewarding them. There is no reason why it should remain at 5%. If we give more tax cuts to the middle class, we will create more business and more people to hire.
But you just said there would be no tax cut to the middle class - how can you have it both ways?

Obama never said that he will give tax money back to people who do not pay taxes. He will give tax cuts to middle class - working class Americans. It is important that people understand what he is saying before assuming that he will give welfare recipients tax cuts because they do not pay tax in the first place.
No, Obama hasn't said that - that information comes from the top economists who have research his plan for taxation. That payment to those who do not pay taxes is (they say) in the plan - and is why so many economists say this plan will not work.

Wow - five people (all either politicians or very rich) say they don't mind.

That's beside the point as I don't think any of us should be expecting MORE from government but should be focusing on HOW TO REPAY the huge debt run up in the past eight years.

By eliminating the Bush tax cut, taxes will rise on middle class. I don't care if they go up somewhat for the to 5%, too. but I'm not interested in providing more entitlements or paying for more political pork.

The idea that you can continually cut taxes and also spend wildly - makes no sense and we've been doing this as a country for far too long.

Glad we agree on something. We shall roll back the tax cuts implemented by the GWBush administration and send it back to the Ronald Reagan era.

We hereby declare that we accept the tax cuts to be given to the middle class by Obama administration. Hear ye Hear ye! and so it shall be.

So you believe that McCain planted "Joe" in the neighborhood "Joe" lives in just in case Obama went to that neighborhood to talk to people? Isn't that a bit of a stretch?

My objection is not to a middle class tax cut at all. It's to increasing taxes substantially on the richest 5% and providing that money to many who don't pay any taxes at all. Of the 95% that will "get a tax cut", 60% don't pay taxes but will get a check.

That 5%, whether we like it or not, are the businesses who create the jobs and increasing the taxes substantially will be balanced by them decreasing workers to make up the difference...and by using even more foreign labor.
That will hurt the middle class....not help.

Why is it that no one in the media asks the hard questions about these economic plans? Not one of those reporters has asked why it's a good idea to give tax money "back" to people who don't pay taxes.

Businesses will maintain their profit margin. A good example is what has happened in my area this year. There are several casinos and surprisingly they have not been badly affected so far by the economy. However, their profit has not increased this year as they wanted. The result: every one of them has eliminated employees, combined two jobs into one, taken dozens of full time employees (full benefits) and made them part time (no benefits). These employees ARE middle class - and they are hurt badly by this.

What we should be doing is eliminating all tax benefits for those corporations located in the US and outsourcing their labor and manufacturing to other countries to save money. That would create jobs for the long term.

As for Cindy McCain - so what? She runs a very profitable business that's been in her family for a while. If she receives tax cuts it's because that's the way the tax system is right now. Maybe eliminating some of the "cuts" for the top few might make sense. A small plumbing business (as opposed to one person working alone) can indeed make that kind of money. Many small businesses do.

To me, it's what the candidates don't mention about themselves that is often most revealing. That is why researching into the charitable giving by both candidates made a big impression on me.

Nobody said that McCain planted Sam Joseph in the neighbourhood. McCain is the one that started to make a big deal and started using Sam Joseph the so-called Joe the Plumber.

Under Obama plan, these people laid off will get a chance to create their own businesses. They will have health care benefit coverage during this difficult time. Under McCain plan, now that they have been laid off without work, no unemployment benefits, they have nothing including healthcare benefits because they will no longer qualify for the McCain $5000 credit for health care. Obama is for the middle class, McCain is for the rich.

What we should be doing is eliminating all tax benefits for those corporations located in the US and outsourcing their labor and manufacturing to other countries to save money. That would create jobs for the long term.

You are definetely an Obama supporter here with your above statement because this is what Obama has been saying all along. Reward business that remain in the USA.

You support Senator Obama here again.

To me, it's what the candidates don't mention about themselves that is often most revealing. That is why researching into the charitable giving by both candidates made a big impression on me.
