I'm really curious to know what he said that was so Un-American. I'm sure that you have all seen this before but, I really want to know what you truly gather from this.

Please be honest with me because this is the video that got everyone's panties in a bunch...

Be honest with yourself - you don't get news from YouTube. What he said is clear and shown in many clips from his sermons on many of the news websites. And don't miss his recent comments at the Press Corps Dinner.

Watch and decide for yourself - I don't think he's worth more attention or any discussion.

That sermon's general idea is that the US's actions resulted in what Ron Paul and others referred to as "blowback".

I agree that this was completely blown out of proportion. Although Wright is way out there in some of his beliefs, I don't think he is racist or any more crazy than most of the high profile preachers. There's some real religious nutjobs out there.

I found Wright's comments to be very offensive. However, it doesn't change my opinion of anyone that has denounced Wright's comments.

I've also heard equally offensive coments from leaders like Pat Robertson, Jesse Jackson, Jerry Falwell, etc.

Kurt, you can't be this damn thick...

I assume you're talking about Obama denouncing Wright's comments... Well what the hell took him so long?? And why did he need pressure from the public to do so?? And why did he subject himself to spending 20+ years in a church headed by this loon???

As for the other people you talk about... ARE THEY THE MENTOR OF ANYONE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT??

To the rest of the forum, I apologize for the shouting... these two characters (and you know who you are) just bring the absolute worst out of ya.

I don't know about this particular video but I have heard his speeches on TV and I feel he is inciting people and that he is a racist.

RACISM IS WRONG wherever it is coming from.

I know the wounds are deep but it just twists the knife to constantly remind everyone of the injustices that have been done and to condone hatred for any reason - and in church?

I am a Christian, but rarely go to church. When I do go it is to a Black church. I have been to many and I have never heard a Pastor talk like this guy. Ever.

Christ is about love and forgiveness and I have always been treated with love in the black church - nobody assumed I was a racist because I am white - and nobody seemed predjudiced against me. I am 'Sister Pat' straight up, coming in and going out from a wall of hugs.

He sounds like he belongs at a militant protest and maybe he needs to spew out his hate there instead.

... and yes I do find it troubling that someone would go to his church for 20+ years and then renounce him just because his venom became public knowledge. Both sides of the coin there seem hypocritical.

You can say you don't care about Wright's statements or that Farrakhan is preaching NOW that Obama is the Messiah - or that Ayars helped launch him politically and is only sorry he didn't conduct more terroristic attacks years ago.

You can say it doesn't affect Obama that Acorn is in big trouble in many states - and Acorn can say "we aren't committing voter fraud, we are non-partisan, we don't sign up people to vote multiple times" - but you can't deny that Acorn people working the streets wear OBAMA hats and pins - or that he has been involved with them more than once and has not distanced himself from them now.

You can say it doesn't matter to you and that you think Obama only used these people - or that he was naive and didn't know what they stood for - or that he only worked with them.

What you CANNOT say - and be believed by anyone - is that these people are not far left and intent on their own agenda. They have many followers - and Obama placed himself with them in the past and does not speak out against any of them unless it helps his campaign.

I don't think Obama AGREES with these people - but he has been willing to associate himself with them. From belief? or ambition? What will he owe them? Politics is always payback time for the winner.

Kay, who are you talking to?

Do you just ignore everything I post? Yes, Obama has questionable associations. However, I started another thead to show just one of McCain's. Did you read the article?

What's the HONEST difference between Liddy and Ayres?

What about the keating 5? Dobson? Hagee? Or McCain being the keynote speaker at an ACORN convention in 2006?

I know. I know...Past relationships only apply to Obama.

BTW, you need to check your facts. Obama's tax plan does NOT give credits to those that don't pay taxes. This is a pretty big error.

Also, do you consider all the Fed aid given to those in the Gulf Coast to be socialism? It isn't like you don't know hurricanes hit that part of the world a few times per lifetime. Why should the rest of us half to pay for you to live in high danger areas that we know will be hit again?

Now, I support helping out those that need it, and will continue, but this would seem contrary to your other posts.

    Micheal,

    >> To the rest of the forum, I apologize for the shouting... these two characters (and you know who you are) just bring the absolute worst out of ya.

First, if you don't have the fortitude to stay away, don't blame Tim and me.

You challenge me and ask me for a reponse. You insult me. You even cried on another thread when I didn't respond. Now when I do respond and answer your concerns, you still cry. Now you blame me because you can't keep your word and stay away? That's beyond pathetic.

I've commented on everything you requested, you have avoided everything I've asked.

I said I found Wright's comments offensive. But, and this is the plain fact, the key phrase is "Wright's comments". I have yet to hear Obama say anything like that.

See the difference? I've hung around people that have said plenty of things I don't agree with. I'm guessing you never have.

Now, you can pretend be Nostradumbass and tell us the future and what is in the hearts of heads of everyone else, but I prefer reality. I refuse to be judged by the comments of others, and I give the same respect.

Now, my turn: What do you think of Palin and witchcraft? Do you condone withcraft and was it OK for her pastor to kick a women out of her home town in Africa for "causing traffic accidents" by using witchcraft?

What do you think of John McCain SEEKING out Hagee's endorsement? And particularly, what do you think of Hagee's statements about catholics, jews and gays?
    CJR: The McCain-Hagee Connection

McCain never denounced Hagee or his comments. What do you think about this? Why would McCain seek out someone for an endorsement with these opinions?

Look, I'll be the first to say, I need to stay away - I'm certainly not getting any richer or wiser talking to you, but some radicals need to be put in their place.

Yet you totally miss the point. Obama's actions (20+ year member of a racist church, refers to a racist as his mentor, didn't speak out against this racist loon until public applied pressure) speak volumes to who he is.

Do you see the difference, yet? Who knows, maybe that type of thinking is over your head.

BTW - Don't mention Hagee... totally different circumstance... was Hagee McCain's mentor for the last 20+ years? Even someone as thick as you has to see the difference there.

I'm far from a radical and am very likely far more patriotic than you. I'll fight for my president and support them, regardless of who is elected, or their politics. I may disagree with them strongly, but if anyone NON USA messes with my president, they'll have a fight on their hands.

Can you make the same claim? If Obama is elected by a majority of Americans, as stated in our Constitution, will you support him against non-Americas? You can still complain and bitch about him here...But would you fight for him? I will no matter who is elected...Hardly a radical.

And Colin Powell is also a radical? Have you tried out for Comedy Central?

And if you need to put me in my place, why don't you know yourself well enough to know you can't stay away? If you can't even judge yourself, why should I respect your ability to judge others? You don't even know what you're going to do, but you know what Obama will do?

And you still can't answer a single direct question. I didn't ask you how long Hagee and McCain were "together". I asked you to comment on witchcraft and Haggee's comments...But you just can't do it. If this was a college exam, you would have failed with a 0. At least try to answer the questions.

I didn't ask you if it was better or worse than Wright, only your opinion.

You're hilarious...Not a single time can you answer a direct question directly. You just can't do it..But I'll keep asking because I get a kick out of how hard it is to answer anything directly...It's like Palin trying to name the magazines she reads...You betcha!

I understand Obama went to that church for a long time. But I haven't heard him say the same things as Wright. And, I never said it didn't concern me. But there are so many other concerns, this one is way down on my list. And, you mention 20 years, while writing off an entire lifetime and family that happens to be white. You don't think he doesn't care about his white grandma? Really? That's a hell of a claim to make about another man without a shred of evidence.

You really need to study basic logic...Every argument you've made is circumstantial, at the very best. What's your fear? Obama is going to make everyone talk in movie theaters, play rap music and drink Colt 45 on the South Lawn? You haven't made a connection yet.

Since I'm so slow, help me out and let's get this perfectly clear and fill in the blank with "Michael logic" (please excuse the oxymoron):

Since Obama went to Wright's church for 20 years, Obama will _________ once he is president. (Raising taxes and similar issues don't count, as the answer must be directly related to attending Wright's church.)

Then, what do you think of witchcraft and Hagee's comments? Again, I'm not asking you who is worse...Just your opinion.

One more question: Is Obama's church affiliation more important to you than getting off foreign oil? Consider the impact to our self defense, environment, and economy. Yes or no will do.

Wright was just Obama's pastor. Kurt's right, it won't affect his politics. Who are Obama's real advisors? For the economy he has Warren Buffet, former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and former Securities and Exchange Commissioner William Donaldson, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney, and SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger.

Who is McCain's main economic advisor? Why, it's none other than Phil Gramm, one of the people most blamed for the current meltdown.

Obama's list of foreign policy advisors, of which Colin Powell apparently will join:

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State Warren Christopher, former Defense Secretary William Perry, ex-Sens. Sam Nunn and David Boren, former Rep. Lee Hamilton, Susan Rice, Greg Craig, and a list of more than 70 retired generals and admirals from all four services who are supporting and advising Obama on national security, aerospace programs, energy and other issues.

No Rev Wright. No Bill Ayers.

Micheal, I understand you right wingers thought that the Rev Wright issue was going to cost Obama the election. Sorry to dissappoint you, but it isn't. There's more important issues going on now.

    Kurt,

In all seriousness, have you ever been institutionalized?

RE:>>If Obama is elected by a majority of Americans, as stated in our Constitution, will you support him against non-Americas?

    Of course, if he's right.

RE:>>And Colin Powell is also a radical?

Huh? Were, when, how did you come up with that one?

RE:>>You don't even know what you're going to do, but you know what Obama will do?

When did I say I know what Obama will do?

RE:>>I understand Obama went to that church for a long time. But I haven't heard him say the same things as Wright.

Swish! Right over Kurt's head again, Kurt. Yet he was sooo close.

RE:>>You don't think he doesn't care about his white grandma? Really? That's a hell of a claim to make about another man without a shred of evidence.

This one has got to be the comment that confirms your lunacy... Where in the world did you get that? LOL

Kurt, seriously, have you been drinking today? I hope so, because if this is your "normal," I feel for ya!

Keating 5 - the head prosecutor advised removing McCain from the list as there was no evidence against him. As he was the only Republican, he was not removed even though the TOP person investigating recommended it. He was not found to have done anything wrong and has repeatedly said that participating in any way was "boneheaded" on his part. He said this before running for President.

I think every politician could be found to have some questionable contacts and supporters and yes, I know McCain spoke one to the Acorn group. He did not pay them $800k during the campaign for work done.

The point is that McCain has some questionable contacts after many years in national public office. Obama has multiple instances of this type of supporter - and he's a freshman Senator.

I would not give much credence to the Wright controversy had Obama not listed that man as a spiritual mentor who was very important to him. Maybe he didn't go to church much and never heard any of the comments Wright made - but does anyone believe Wright doesn't push his agenda in private, too? Perhaps Obama didn't take Wright's more controversial views seriously - but does that show good judgment?

I agree with you that we support the person elected - no matter who it is. The Electoral college rules and it's not productive to keep arguing candidates after the election is over. Despite Bush's efforts, there is still a balance of power in this country as there should be. I don't think either candidate will be horrible for the country - nor do I think either will be great. No matter which is elected, they face problems more serious and immediate than any new President has faced for many years.

According to leading economists - the Obama tax plan DOES provide checks to those who do not pay taxes. Economists have pointed to this as a problem with the plan - I'm not an economist so don't have the expertise to judge the plan. I do give some credence to economists who are not arguing politics and not associating themselves with either campaign. I hope they are wrong - but hope won't change anything. It could be that the plan will be amended before any approval - or it could be we will have the Democratic version of what we had for six years with Bush - a rubber stamp, same party, Congress.

am very likely far more patriotic than you
How do you measure "patriotism"? Is someone who fought for his country more patriotic than someone who didn't? Is someone who agrees with your views more patriotic than someone who doesn't? Does wearing a flag lapel pin qualify a person as "more patriotic" or more politically correct?

To assume that anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid or unpatriotic is exceedingly arrogant.

I can say "I think" or "I believe" - but I also recognize that others may see the topic from a different viewpoint and form different beliefs. There isn't a "right" or "wrong" - just different viewpoints and opinions.

And what's your point? Obama hired ACORN to register voters. Do you have a problem with that?

but does anyone believe Wright doesn't push his agenda in private, too?
Yes, I question that. Come on Kay. Have you seen who advises Obama? Do you think Obama honestly listens to this guy? Seriously?

Yes and no IMO, it provides checks to those who pay taxes, but don't pay federal income tax. Not those who don't work. By the way, McCain's $5,000 refundable tax credits do the same thing.

The problem is that massive fraudulent voter registrations have been identified as having come from ACORN, and since Obama paid them, and they wear his promotional stuff, then he will be associated with a FRAUD apparently perpetrated to benefit him personally.

Naturally the point will be the Republicans trying to disqualify Democratic votes, poor people, black people's votes, etc.

The actual situation IS VOTER REGISTRATION FRAUD being perpetrated by a Democratic voter registration organization.

I personally doubt that Obama had any intentions of fraud, but nonetheless, when the votes are disqualified it may hurt him.

It really pisses me off that people will blame Republicans for uncovering what should be a felony. (maybe it is)

Then again you wonder who you can trust and if someone didn't do this purposely to discredit ACORN.

Can't trust anyone when they have an agenda other than justice under the law. They will stoop to anything just to win the 'game'.

Now this is a valid argument no matter how you look at it and should not even be compared to McCain being ALLEGED to have had inappropriate association with Keating - which he was exonerated of - but which some still think is the same as Obama hanging with a known, unrepentant terrorist - because it furthers their agenda.

    ... and pins? please.

Who is the victim of the voter registration fraud? It's ACORN because they paid for it. They knew about these errors but by law are requiered to submit all registrations, separately. So they pointed out the errors.

There's no voter fraud, but voter registration fraud. Much to do about nothing really.

ACORN pays people to register voters. Some people want easy money and write in Mickey Mouse or the starting lineup for the Yankees and signs it themselves. They get paid by the number of registrations. ACORN separates the frauds they find, but still are requiered to turn in all registrations.

        True.

There seems to be no compliance oversight of those $8 an hr workers in the field. Workers are less likely to cheat when they know someone may be looking over their shoulder or testing them by posting as a registrant.

If there were legal penalties for anyone falsely registering another person or for those who register multiple times, it would help. So many report that the Acorn person in the street claimed "no harm in registering again and it will help me make money" it's clear supervision and monitoring of these workers is nonexistent.
