    Annemann was great. He left an impressive legacy. I own the "Interactive Jinx", the electronic version of his creation. Have to spend some time with it.

    It's too bad stunts like that can't grab the public anymore. Penn and Teller still do the bullet catch and it's supposed to be a good show, but it's on stage as part of their program. People are pretty cynical now a days. Of course David Blaine and Criss Angel don't help the matter much.

    The Interactive Jinx isn't available anymore (I just checked), but I found this if you or anyone wants to get into Ted Annemann.

      I keep trying to hate Criss Angel, but he's slick enough to do some of the stuff on his show the hard way, so anyone actually in the industry ends up facepalming and thinking "dammit, I sure wish he had faked that one."

      Because now you can't say "it's all fake camera tricks." It's not. He did some of those tricks, honestly, and with great skill and imagination - just like you would have, provided you had his luxury of working on a trick of that scale for a year and a half.

      So when you try to hate on him, people say "oh yeah, well what about this one?" - and sooner or later they hit on something you can't say was a load of crap. Then you just look like a 'tard.

    My problem with Blaine and Angel is not their effects. It's their presentation. When they do close up magic they are amazing, but the big effects put me off because of their bad acting. They come across as dudes proud to leave their flys open. Just douche bags. For me it detracts from the magic and just adds to the public cynicism.

    There is no doubt they are terrific magicians, they could be great magicians with management that could control their egos and get them into acting classes.

    Annemann was great.
    I don't have the interactive Jinx, but I do have the book The Life and Times of A Legend, The 3 volume Tannen/Robbins edition of the Jinx, A couple of Geniis and Linking Ring issues dedicated to Annemann,ans some copies of some of his original releases.
    On top of that the picture in my public profile here is Ted.

    I have seen P&T perform their version live on stage. Maybe I am jaded, but it just didn't have that "wow" factor for me.
    When the gun is fired and Annemann spins and falls to the ground it looks like he caught it.
