Since there isn't a domain section here (there should be ) I thought that off topic was the best place for this.

So let me start...
So I want to start a new website. It's more personal based, not business. I probably won't be selling anything there and there will not be ads.

Now my dilemma.
I found a one word domain that suites my needs very well, but it's a .CC domain.

The site is personal but I want readers. Is .CC going to be a problem with SEO or should I keep searching for a .com? If I get a .com it will be 2-3 words as I can't find any one word .com's that are available that I would want to use.

I really don't want to use .net or .org and the one word domain .CC really suites my needs (and personally I'm ok with a .CC domain. I've never had a problem with them but everyone always tells me to steer clear of them).

Now, I could keep searching for a free .com or .me (which I would be ok with).

But my real question is is a .CC going to be ok or should I hold out for a.com that I like?

if its just personal and you have no plans for the site other than to just up stuff, .cc will be fine, anything will be fine.

If your going to do business, i would stick with .com, .net , .co.uk, .ca ..org etc

yeah .info's can get hard to sale. But this won't be something I'm selling, you know? It's a site for me and I want readers for it.

.cc is NOT a problem with SEO. But if you compete with an earlier site, it COULD be violating the UDRP! .cc almost SCREAMS "GUILTY"! AND, if someone forgets the cc, chances are THEY, or the browser, will add .com.

THAT is your problem. YEAH, we SHOULD have a domain forum, and printers should have a forum on GREEN(the color), and accounting programs should have a special ADD account, etc...
