John Wooden passed away.

ESPN called him the greatest American coach in any sport for the 1900's, and I agree.

And he knew how to teach teenagers into becoming men.

From a basketball point of view, the thing I remember about Wooden is not that he won 6 NCAA championships with Bill Walton and Lew Alcindor (Jabbar)....But he also won 4 without them.

And he did it with dignity and never raising his voice, cussing, throwing chairs, arguing with the refs.

He died at age 99 and to me was a great example of how we should live our lives and coach kids.

    99. Here's one that deserves celebration. What a life this guy had. Long and packed full of doing, learning, giving. That's what life was supposed to look like at the end. Good job Coach.

He was a legend - his philosophies will carry on for many, many generations. He revolutionized the sport and I consider him the most influential person in the history of basketball, after Naismith.

      RIP John Wooden
