After doing some digging, even IF Obama gets the presidency, the honors of being the "First Black President" under the Second Continental Congress has already been taken:

http://www.diversityinc.com/public/1461.cfm]Obama Wouldnt Be First Black President
Some Presidents with African American heritage
Thomas Jefferson
Andrew Jackson
Abraham Lincoln
Warren G. Harding
Calvin Coolidge

Now who REALLY has the honor of being the FIRST black President? Hold on to your hats.....John Hansen Was the First President of the United States! 1781-1782. George Washington was really the EIGHTH president of the US.

Just a bit of trivia...for your enjoyment!

Anything that mentions the illuminati (sp?) makes me laugh.
And I have to be honest, I have doubts of the validity of this.

Should have picked a different video. I'll look for other sources, but I'm pretty sure the information is accurate. As far as Illuminati, I don't know if that is real or urban legend.

Whether you think John Hansen was black or not (even though a "Moor" is something else entirely), he was NOT the first president of the United States of America.

Before 1781, the "United States of America" was the name of an alliance of 13 independent and sovereign states. After that, the "United States of America" became the name of the nation it is today, where previously independent states subsequently only had sovereignity over functions not specifically deputed to the federal government.

Therefore, John Hansen was NOT the President of the United States of America as it exists today. It really WAS George Washington. There is no conspiracy here... just a misunderstanding of historical fact.

If Obama wins the forthcoming election, then he WILL be the first black President of the U.S. (as long as you exclude the 50% caucasian part of him).

    Tommy.

I intended this post to inform, not to offend. Sorry that some of you took it that way. These men are NOT MENTIONED in the history books even though they set up the US for George Washington and others to follow. Giving them the acknowledgments that are due them is only correct.

You obviously didn't read the rest of the post, as I mentioned five other presidents under the current government WHO ARE ETHNICALLY BLACK, so even if you discount John Hansen as not a legitimate President of the Colonies (which I feel you are incorrect), you are also dismissing other preceding presidents under the US Constitution as of 1787, who were also bi-racial. Ergo, IF Obama gets elected ( G-d forbid! ), that title went to Thomas Jefferson---even though he couldn't admit his black ancestry due to the prejudices of the day.

Anyway, there are many leaders who have been swept under the historic carpet for various reasons. As far as John Hansen, he deserves a "thank you" for what he did during his brief time in office. We need PRECISELY that type of bold leadership today.

They ARE mentioned in the history books but not as Presidents of the country now called the U.S. - because they weren't.

Actually, I did read the post.

And, if you researched the claims before simply repeating them, you'd know they are bullshit. In fact, you would know they were/are perpetuated by historical revisionists with an anti-white racist agenda and have little basis in reality. The principal proponent of the "previous black U.S. Presidents" rumour bases her theory on the idea that, because there were more European men than women in the U.S. in the past, they MUST have raped black women. (So, not only does she base her idea on an anti-white ideology... but throws in her "all men are rapists at heart" ideas too).

Even a cursory analysis of the claims shows how silly they are. Harding is cited as the "best case" but that claim is based on rumours circulated by Democratic opponents in the heart of Ku Klux Klan territory at a time when the KKK was at the height of it's power. (In a place controlled by an anti-black organisation, you can damage your opponent by claiming he is partly black.)

Another example is Coolidge: Those who circulate these stories say his mother's surname was "Moor" and the name "Moor" was given to all Black people in Europe just as the name Negro was used in America. That one made me snigger a bit: "Moor" is a surname that originated in Ireland, and, in some derivations, in Scotland and, to a lesser extent, England. It found it's way to the U.S. in the mass emigration of Irish, Scottish, and English people to there over the last few centuries.

Black people in Europe are NOT and have never been called "Moors" - they were/are called... wait for it... black people!

Historically, muslim Berbers and Arabs who occupied Spain and Portugal centuries ago were called Moors. Moroccans living in modern-day Spain are sometimes called Moors.

Equating the surname "Moor" with the Moors in Spain is idiotic.

If Barrack Obama wins the forthcoming U.S. election, fair play to him. I'm sure he'll do a great job. But he most definitely will NOT be the 6th black President. He'll be the first (if, again, you ignore the fact that his mother was white).

      Tommy.

Ok, I noticed something----photography was invented in 1840, so the photo of the black John Hanson couldn't be authentic. So, I stand corrected.

Even so, we have some awesome people who stood at the foundation of our country, we need to remember what they did.....fought the most powerful nation on earth because they believed in being a free nation. We are loosing our freedoms.

Thank you for pointing that out.

That's John Hanson, a 19th century politician from Liberia in Africa.

He was black but on the wrong continent and in the wrong century to be the American John Hanson.

I didn't ignore that his mother is Caucasian. I'm also glad to see Alan Keys, and Cynthia McKenny running too. Good people, good diversity among all candidates. I'm still voting for Chuck Baldwin.

I didn't mean you personally. I meant anyone who would call him a black (potential) President.

I feel that it is very exciting that we may soon have our "first black president" I think Obama will do a wonderful job as president.
I feel he will help those of us that Bush has forgotten about the last 8 years.
