America's Got Talent... Great show to watch while drinking a brew and/or watching with the kids. Lots of laughs and also some very decent, unusual entertainment. Singers, dancers, all sorts of groups, magicians, kid acts, comedians, parents & offspring acts - lots of interesting and weird acts. Channel = NBC: Celebrity judges are... - Sharon Osbourne: ( SHARONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ) - Howie Mandel: - British Dude: Host... Nick Cannon: This years' winner will earn 1 Million bucks and a show on the Vegas strip! Check it out if you get a chance, or you can even it and view it at your leisure cause... America's Got Talent! Note: I understand this is another production of the Brit Simon Cow of American Idol fame but do we need 2 Brits on the judging panel?? TL |
Re: America's Got Talent... Without Simon Cowell, there is no talent show. Chris |
Re: America's Got Talent... Adding Howie Mandel as a judge was an OK move. I was surprised though because I had always considered Hasselhoff to be the "lead" judge. The "some brit guy" is ,and forgive my spelling if I get it wrong, is Pierce Morgan. A couple of notes: It DOES have some great talent on at times. The judged will pass through to Vegas many many people that really don't deserve to go their. I was telling my wife last night that if the judges were paying for the plane tickets to Vegas they would be sending a LOT less people through. They should do the auditions WITHOUT a live audience. The audience makes me want to turn it off. American audiences no longer know how to be a good audience. Either everything is an (undeserved) standing ovation or they will boo the act off the stage. Get rid of the audience and make it a real talent show. |

Possibly true but do we need 2 Brits on the judging panel of 3 people?? I understand the need for Simon to help out a fellow countryman... But IMHO, 1 is more than enough. TL |
Re: America's Got Talent... I don't think the American public perceives Sharon Osborne as a Brit anymore. Women love her, and the MTV generation love her. |
Re: America's Got Talent... Quote:
I think she's nice and tries to be as nice as possible to terrible contestants. It's the British dude ( don't remember his name ) who should go but I think he's trying to play the Simon Cow role - American Idol role of the often times heavy. TL |
Re: America's Got Talent... Sometimes the audience has a really quick trigger or raves over someone that I think sucks but... ... I don't think they should get rid of the audience. IMHO TL |
Re: America's Got Talent... TL, read above, I told you his name, Pierce Morgan! :D Anyway, my point is that the audience has no manners and in my opinion if someone has no manners they don't deserve to be there. There were several contestants that I could not here or understand due to the audience rowdiness, and who is the show for, the live audience or the tv audience? BTW: I still watch it like clockwork with my wife. :D |
Re: America's Got Talent... Actually, its spelled Piers. Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (nĂ© O'Meara; born 30 March 1965), known professionally as Piers Morgan, is the former editor of the tabloid newspapers the News of the World (1994–1995) and the Daily Mirror (1995–2004).[2] He is editorial director of First News, a national newspaper for children. Morgan branched into television mainly as a presenter, but has become best known as a judge or contestant in reality television programmes. In the UK, he is a judge on Britain's Got Talent alongside Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell. Morgan is best-known in the United States as a judge on the show America's Got Talent, and as the winner of The Celebrity Apprentice. He has authored eight books including three volumes of his memoirs. |
Re: America's Got Talent... I say give the contestant(s) a free 30 seconds. Then... If they suck, let them have it. ( remember the gong show ?? ) TL |

And yes, I remember and loved the gong show! |

Re: America's Got Talent... Artie Shaw, JP Morgan...who was the thrid judge? |

Re: America's Got Talent... lol Kurt, thanks.I remembered JP after I posted, but for the life of me I couldn't remember Arties correct last name. The 3rd judge I just was never able to get a good enough look at him. |
Re: America's Got Talent... Considering Howie Mandel is Canadian, it looks like "America's Got Talent" has no American judges at all. |
Re: America's Got Talent... I've always enjoyed these type of show. But yeah get some American judges in there!! |
Re: America's Got Talent... Quote:
I didn't know that! |
Re: America's Got Talent... Yeah Kim, he's one of ours. You're welcome to keep him if you like. |
Re: America's Got Talent... Howie Mandel? I watch America's Got Talent too (here in UK) but the judges are Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff (Legend!). I don't see Howie Mandel anywhere! Britian's Got Talent was fantastic this year though and Simon Cowell is the best judge ever! Adam |
Re: America's Got Talent... Quote:
Lotsa funny memories of that show. And who would have EVER suspected Chuck was a CIA operative? :D |
Re: America's Got Talent... Quote:
Once the Gong Show went off the air, well, no other show stacks up! |
Re: America's Got Talent... I think Howie Mandel is a change for the better! Really disliked the "Hoff". They pick some really bad acts during the tryouts for laughs - but the show moves fast and this year it's way better than American Idol. Simon was clearly over it this year - and talent was lacking. I repeatedly turned it off out of boredom. I did really like the subway singer lady on Got Talent. |
Re: America's Got Talent... The subway singing lady was the mother of the main character in the movie Precious. She got nominated for an Oscar I think. It was once of the worst movies I had ever tried to see. I think I made it about 1/2-3/4 of the way through before I coulnt take anymore. |

Re: America's Got Talent... She sang "at last" - and she is really, really good! |
Re: America's Got Talent... Kay, While I couldn't stand the movie her daughter was in, I have to admit she DID sing good!Of course the song itself is such a classic its hard to go wrong with it! I think beisdes Etaa, I have versions by Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Rait and Tracie Nelson and a few others. :) |
Re: America's Got Talent... Quote:
IMHO... The movie was scientifically designed by the writer/producers to garner Oscar consideration knowing the super-trifling story would touch the heart of the tree-hugging liberals that dominate Hollywood. Monique was mommy dearest gone thermo-nuclear and... I knew she would win that Oscar because that's how Hollywood has been in the last 30 or so years. Denigrate yourself and/or play a super-negative character and you'll surely get noticed. The writer/producer is the same dude that made Holly Berry exclaim... "make me feel good" ... ...over and over to help her win her Oscar from the movie Monsters' Ball. About the song... Yea but if you can't sing, this song will expose you. She has a strong, powerful voice. Etta James is quoted as saying something to the effect that she wanted to slap Beyouce for singing her song. TL |
Re: America's Got Talent... I liked the guy with the funny eyebrows. I LMAO at it!! I also cracked up at the older guy who was a pretend magician when he tried to make himself disappear under a black cover, he came out with his tidy whities over his head. Okay, I know I need to get a life...lol |
