I'm relatively new to Internet marketing, in that, although I've been researching tools and methods for about six months, now, I haven't actually started anything yet. I'm leaning toward SEO traffic, because it gives longer lasting value to my online presence.

I own Market Samurai, Micro Niche Finder 5, Keyword Elite 2, XsitePro2. These are all cool tools, but the biggest hurdle of all for me is actually finding a real niche market. What good are the tools if I can't find a market to drill down into? These guys just assume that I've already found a good niche, and I'm ready to use their tools to exploit it.

I know it's a basic step, but I believe it's one that newbies and even lots of veteran marketers struggle with. The niche tool vendors want to sell their production tools, but they don't give any solid help in finding real, honest-to-goodness niches. Most of the jump-off "methods" I've seen are pretty vague.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I really think that there should be a public chat or forum for people like me to brainstorm together to come with possible good ideas for markets. If ideas are thrown up on the board without anything held back, I really do believe that there would be nuggets for everyone.

We're all different, and what seems stupid to one may actually be a goldmine, or at least inspirational for someone else. Is there a place for this? Are there people like me who are willing to participate? The more the better. I think there are plenty of ideas for everyone, and who knows how many untapped ideas are lurking within reach.

Any thoughts on this?
