Relay For Life - Have You Been Affected By Cancer?

Last year I lost my Gran to cancer and still miss her every day. Not long after we lost her my sister was found to have a very large tumor on her ovary and had her ovaries removed. She was very lucky that they caught it when they did and before it had spread. There was no sign of it in her lymph nodes so she is cancer free.

Cancer is certainly one of the most awful things to affect a family and unfortunately most people have been affected by it either themselves, or a family member or friend.

This year I am putting a team together to do the Relay for Life which is to raise funds for cancer research.

Every dollar raised at Relay For Life helps Cancer Council to:
• Investigate new ways to prevent, detect and treat cancers
• Educate people in your community about ways they can reduce their cancer risk
• Advocate for cancer control
• Support people during their times of greatest need.

The Relay for Life event that we are participating in is in November so between now and then we are raising as much as we can toward this great cause.

So any help that anyone can give is much appreciated. Even if it is only a dollar donation, every little bit helps and every dollar adds up. So if you can afford even a dollar then please help by donating to the cancer cause.

Thanks for your support

I lost my little brother to lung cancer a few years back.
I myself have had prostate cancer.
Lets hope one day they find a cure.

    Hey Sheryl,

I lost my 13 year old son 3 years ago to cancer. (Ewings Sarcoma)

I think it is becoming more of a question of "have you NOT been affected by cancer."

Thanks for doing the relay, the help that the Cancer Council gives people who need it is amazing.

I haven't been able to go back to a relay yet... too raw still. (ironically were were at a relay with Tyson a few weeks before he was diagnosed, walking for a friend we had lost.)

    Maybe it will always be.

My driving force for motivation with IM is to be able to make enough money to donate significant money to these types of causes.
