I'll be bitching, so if you don't want to hear a grown man whine, just click your back button now.

So, I had to go back to the devil... yes... that devil. I had to get a J-O-B...
I'm really bummed out about it.

To make matters worse, I was so desperate for a paycheck, i had to take a job doing something that I completely disagree with, selling a product that I hate, to people that I don't agree with.... But it had to be done.

The bottom line is that I've managed to squander every dollar (and a lot more) from my savings, my business went belly up (not that it ever really had too big of a belly), and I'm now in a position that I don't think I'll be able to recover from. (high double digit debt)

Can't say I didn't try though... and no matter what, even if i end up losing my house (strong possibility) it will have been all worth it for the experience that I gained. And I plan on trying again as soon as I possibly can.

I learned a whole lot about making money online, and I know that it's possible... but it just wasn't my right time I suppose.

ugh.....

bummer.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say thank you to all the warriors that helped me out. I'll probably disappear for a while, but I'll be back.

Think of it as a cleansing.

You learned a bunch. Sometimes we need to be stretched before we can grow.

Brush off the shit and start kickin' ass.

    Hi Mr2Monster,

Any chance you can tell what the product is? Even if by PM.
The way you worded it has really got my curiosity cranked up.
Is that your ebook in your sig?

Hangin there and my best wishes that you get back on track.

FYI- if you haven't, check out David Preston's thread on selling email auto-responder services.

I've done quite a bit of stuff actually.

The ebook in my sig is one of my products, I've also done affiliate sales through review pages, I've been a bum marketer, I've brokered services, etc...

I've stuck to three main niches and then a review site for randomness. So focus on a niche wasn't really my problem.

I just can't seem to make enough to float myself though. It's not that I'm not making money, because there for a while I was averaging about 200 a day with a $100 spend in advertising (so $100 net) but that doesnt cut it for my expenses.

Then, the economy took a crap and my sales completely stopped. I mean 100% stopped. EVERY SITE I have stopped producing entirely even though I was still getting the same level of traffic that I was getting before. I checked everything I could. I even went as far as going through the entire purchase cycle to make sure there were no hang ups, and there was nothing.

I didn't find any problems with clickbank, although I couldn't help but notice a sudden decline in purchases around the same time everyone else was having issues... but I was still making sales so I kept it going.

And while I was testing all of this, I managed to blow through what little profit I had made by using adwords and other various forms of marketing and called it quits just as I was about to go in the hole for the year.

      Gross = 14,433; Expenditures = 14,284; Net = $149 for 10 months of work.

So, I walked. I broke even, essentially.... unless you account for my time.

I am sorry to hear about this but whatever you do, don't blame yourself. Almost everybody who is self-employed on or offline would feel quite threatened by the current economic situation. Not everybody work well when under a lot of pressure.

Once you are settled in your job and feel less insecure, you may well be able to have another go at it, perhaps from a fresh perspective. As far as your financial situation is concerned, you should talk with professional advisors as to what would the best step to take. I know a lot of people who have come close or even declared bankruptcy but they always came out of it strongly.

    Good luck

I think your photography e-book is definitely worth continuing, even at a scaled back level. People would be interested in getting an extra source of income when the economy. I know this because a few of my friends worked part-time as a wedding photographer or videographer when the economy was very bad over here 10 years ago. It just could be that people are shell-shocked at the moment.

I would also suggest that you look at the sales page. There seems to be no actual examples of photographs there. As a potential buyer, I would be worried whether you are a genuine professional photographer or not.

Concerning adwords, you may need some expert advice. It may worthwhile joining the weathy affiliate program just to ask an expert to log into your adwords account to have a look.

I would also look at where your sales come from. It may be worthwhile to do a separate adwords campaign for each country: this will definitely cut down your cost. By using this technique, I was able to increase my sales 50% a few years ago. This was a tip given to me by one of the biggest Adwords advertiser in Europe.

Another possibility is to have country specific sales pages in their respective currency. Finally, make you do not use dynamic keyword insertion in your ads. Google has reviewed that they will charge you more for it.

    Good luck

I'm 40 years old. I've never held down a full time job working for somebody else in my life.

I've been in the army but that was only the reserves. I've been self employed for many years. But I too must get a job as an electronics engineer very soon.

I applied for one as a wireless technician this week. It sucks but the pay is pretty good. Plenty for adwords. And shit its gotta be better than being a broke university student.

But i want a lot more from life. When i left home as a teen my mind was full of goals, few of which have been met. But my goals and dreams were high ones.

And i will never lose them because i think making those goals was the sanest thing i ever did.
