Thank you Warriors - A year later - Thank you!

Hi Warriors,

About a year ago I had some major health problems, and found myself in a situation that was about as dire as I've ever encountered. I didn't want to say anything about it at the time, but a member here convinced me that I needed help. It was a very humbling experience, to say the least.

Thank you.

The outpouring of support was as amazing as it was heartwarming. From the smallest contribution to the largest (monetary, written or otherwise) was appreciated more than I can express.

You will never know much it meant to me and my family. You not only helped us financially, but removed so much stress that I'm 100% convinced it's part of the reason I'm still here. How can you thank somebody enough for that?

You can't.

The Warrior Forum is a social outlet, school, community and so much more. It is THE best forum out there and I'll arm wrestle anybody who tells me different (not saying I'd win, but don't push it! ).

A few weeks ago some Warriors were nice enough to tell me I was getting a bit too cranky and mean-spirited. The thing is, I was noticing it, too. That's not my style and I apologize for acting that way. However, upon reflection, I think it was because I was thinking of how wonderful everybody was a year ago. In other words, the outpouring was so personal then that I was taking things personally a few weeks ago.

However, if somebody comes in here and starts insulting my firends, and slams the WF as a whole, then yes, I have a problem with that. Okay, sorry, I'm getting a bit off track.

Well, it's been about a year and I'm doing great. Again, having much of the stress removed sped up my recovery.

Anyway, I know this is a bit rambling, but it's something I wanted to say. I know I have fallen short of using the right words. Let me finish by saying the way you Warriors stepped up will never be forgotten.

With my deepest gratitude,
Michael

Glad you made it through the rough patch and had so much support. The Warrior Forum is quite a unique forum in that way. It can get a little contentious at times depending on the topics, but generally, if you give to the WF, you get so much more in return.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the update and taking the time to say thanks - many people forget that bit.

You know we're more than just a bunch of anonymous users here and it's also nice to know that we're able to club together and support each other when it matters.

This is definitely not like any other forum on the internet.

Michael, a big thank you to YOU. You single handedly started me on the next level of my IM career and I know I would not have gotten where I am as quickly as I did if it were not for your invitation.

Holy Cow! Has it been a year already? My, how time flies...

Michael, I'm glad you had a successful recovery from that episode as I'm sure most of the other Warriors are. You always seem so level headed...even when you're cranky.

Being as a year has gone by in the virtual blink of an eye I'm reminded of how short life really is.

      Spooky...

Thanks for all your posts where you sometimes are the lone voice that 'takes a step back' and looks at things from a different angle. It helps in the greater scheme of things that somebody does that. Tends to make me go "hmmm" sometimes and try to think a little deeper on the subject.

Michael, I don't think I was particularly active here a year ago so I missed whatever it was you were going through. Glad to hear things are much better now.

And also glad to hear of the support you received from your friends here on WF. I'm with you (and the other posters), this place isn't about making money. It's about making friends and helping folks out when you can, in whatever way you can.

I often come under a bit of flak for my defence of WF, but again, I think those of us who know what this place is really about, would stand up and defend it with our last breath. If you need any help in the arm wrestling department, I have a couple of strapping sons I can loan you. :p

    Michael,

It's been great watching your transformation this past year. Some of it was attitude, some of it was lifestyle change. And judging by your avatars, these changes are really workin' for ya!

Your post just confirms the "community spirit" of this forum. So many people come here looking at the other members as mini ATM machines. Those who can look beyond the monetary rewards realize that the money stuff is just a small part of this community. You can't even put a price tag on the relationships -- and yes, friendships -- that you can develop here.

Here's to a happy, healthy and wealthy future!

    Michael,
I have to agree that the Warrior Forum is the best community on the net.

I can remember when hurricane Katrina hit my area and took me to my knees. Warriors
were there and had my back. I thanked and thanked them but it never seemed like
enough. I was very lucky because my problem resolved it's self and I was able to
return the money sent to me by warriors.

I can seriously understand you creating this post. I've considered doing so
myself a few times in the past and probably should have although seeing
that I didn't and You did, I'll just piggy back on your thread and say to
everyone that helped Michael and myself, Thank You all.

Michael, I'm truly glad that everything also worked out for you and your
situation worked out for the best.

    Have a Great Day!

      Michael,

I haven't been a member a year yet, lacking a few weeks. I wasn't aware of your difficulties, but one thing I am definitely aware of is your value to this forum!

I am extremely grateful for many of your posts and I too want to thank all the warriors that helped you!

This forum just would not be the same without your insights, help and unique manner of thinking!

      Keep on rockin' our world!

    Michael,

I'm glad you're through the worst of it and I'm glad to call you my friend. I agree with you about this being the best community online, but I'd like to add that YOU are one of the reasons it is. Whether you're contributing a valuable tip, offering a different perspective, being the voice of reason, or simply adding a chuckle to our day, it the people like that make this forum what it is.

As far as I'm concerned you not only survived - you completely transformed. I don't know why you put the old avatar back up unless it's just a stroll down memory lane, but the new one showed that you took yourself over in true warrior fashion. We can only admire a person who does the hard work you did to improve yourself.

You had to pull through - we need dickheads like you here (yes, I'm kidding).

We all get a bit grouchy in here now and again. Some of us more than others. But I can't think of anyone in here, despite our differences that doesn't care when one of the community is in deep hurt. Families bicker, name call, and even rant.........but they are there in the long run when things get hot. You are, by a long shot, not the only one here who is grateful for something that this family has done for them.

As far as the comment about anonymous people. Many of us know each other off line as well as online, too - so we're not a completely anonymous group. But we are a peculiarly bonded group. And that IS what makes this forum different. Those that understand that stay to become real warriors.

So anyway.............here's to another year, Michael - with all the fun, the great ideas, and a few attitudes. Glad you are whole again.

I've used up my allotment for the Thanks button today, but I'll do my best to catch up.

@Sal - I got some really cool comments about the newest avatar, but I got even more that said I looked creepy, less friendly, or were otherwise negative. It was probably a coincidence, but I also noticed people were assuming I was more cranky when I was using that avatar. As soon as I reverted to the current one, things changed for the better. Either way, I appreciate your comments.

@KimW, Steven and Dennis - Great tunes!

@Diana - I love Spinal Tap! One of the best bands ever. Thank for sharing a track from Spinal Sings "Listen to The (Flower People)" and Other Favourites. Hard to believe that came out in 1967! Though my favorite song is probably "Big Bottom" from Brainhammer.

@Pat - ST is cool, too! I like "I Wasn't Meant To Feel This/Nobody Hears" from the Art of Rebellion. Good stuff.

    Rock on!
