I'm 48 and I've never suffered a broken bone. I'm told that's not too common. Not too rare, but apparently us "non breakers" are out-numbered by "breakers".

      Broke my arm in Kintergarden.

Broke most of my fingers playing football and basketball.

But the one I really hated was breaking my little toe the night before I left for a week in Hawaii. I was bare foot in the dark and kicked the coffee table leg while I was walking past it. That one will take your breath away.

Only one very tiny bone in my foot about 20 years ago. Went through my entire childhood, complete with tree-climbing, jumping off bridges and almost getting squished by a dump truck - not one thing broken.

Hurrying out of a store and back to the car, I came down hard on the side of my foot stepping off the curb and broke my foot (well, one small piece of it). Can ya believe that?

I raised all three of my children and none of them have had a broken bone yet (25, 22, 17) and my son was hit by a car at 14 and thrown close to 100 feet.

We have strong bones overall, considering.

Fell out of the top bunk bed and broke my collarbone. At least thats the story we told my mother. Reality was my older brother and I both wanted the top bunk and he pushed me out and I broke it.

Broke a bone in my foot running in a race - wouldn't have been so bad except I was in the lead so I kept running to the finish line. That didn't help much.

Broke a finger holding the reins when I went over a jump...and the horse didn't. Bone stayed in place so no biggie....but embarrassing.

Broke my left arm in eighth grade when I fell out of a tree. My dad grabbed and wiggled and announced it wasn't broken and didn't take me to the hospital for three days. Which correlates to the worst three days of my life pain wise as I recall. Then I broke the same arm again when I was 22 playing basketball diving for a loose ball. I remember the doc being really upset with me and cussing at me for cutting a groove in the palm of the cast that fit my golf club. Yeah you can play golf with a cast on your left hand if you're a righty. Actually helped my slice at the time if i recall.

No complete breaks, but plenty of fractures!

The most memorable was the first when I was 11 years old. I tried to jump from one end of the monkey bars to the other on the playground. It was hot and humid and when I reached the other side, my grip slipped, sending me flying into the merry-go-round which then spun me into the air and onto the sun-baked ground.

I have no idea which "hit" caused the fracture as I hardly remember the point by point blows as it happened so quickly. Well that, and I suffered a concussion as well!

Only stuff like toes and pinkies, nothing really massive. But I do still have some issues with my right knee where I was bringing my science fair project to the car, what 10 years ago (?), and I slipped on the ice. To this day, I call it "The old Science Fair Injury" and I talk about it as if it was like a football injury or something.

I broke my arm playing football at age 12.

As far as it being rare or not, I guess it depends on what kind of activities you partake in during your life. I'm guessing violin players don't break many bones.

I was browsing this thread again and thought I should mention, I was 40 when I got my first break (not Hollywood). The only person who can say you've never had a broken bone is the one who lays you out in a box.

Maybe my broken shoulder was karma for bragging that I had "never suffered a broken bone".

Obviously, you now need to be very careful...

Well, I WOULD have never broken a bone, but I was in a car accident. I suffered a hairline fracture on a leg. BTW I STILL remember the pain I was in when I tried to put my foot on the floor after the cast was removed. YIKES!

Broken Femur in 6th grade riding down a hill in the rain with "no handlebars" - that body cast was really comfortable, in the summer.

And Broke my ankle ice skating last year - with almost a full recovery. Can run, play tennis now.

Both times, I have to say I wasn't fully "paying attention," wasn't completely conscious in the moment.

I broke my right wrist and fractured my left wrist in a motorcycle accident when I was about 16 or 17. Ironically I was coming back from the doctor (because I had burnt my leg on the exhaust of my bike because my dad forgot to leave me some space in the garage), and they had finally removed the dressings etc.

About 5Km from home, someone did a u-turn and I didn't see them on time, my front wheel hit their front left tyre and I flew over the car (didn't touch it once) and landed on my backside on the tar on the other side. My hands went through my bike's fairing before I did.

I've also broken toes, and dislocated my shoulder. and broke three ribs when a horse ran over me. (I kept it quiet for almost a week as well )

Broke a couple of fingers. Also broke one of the bones in my right wrist reaching back to brace a backwards fall. Never had it set. Had it x-rayed about four years later at an orthopedic clinic.

A doctor there said it was the most remarkable thing he'd seen (I don't think he gets out enough) because the distal part of the bone (navicular) hadn't had any blood supply since the fracture but it was still alive and thriving just the same.

I know, way more information than necessary.
