After failing to qualify from their group (which included the Ivory Coast, Portugal and Brazil :rolleyes: ), the North Korean soccer team have been subjected to a 6 hour reprimand by 400 students, and the coach has been sent to work on a construction site.

    Lawrh, it's far more sinister than that. The North Korean "justice" system implements what it calls the "3 generations" rule -- if you commit a serious crime against the government, then not only will you be punished for it, but so will your children and your grandchildren.

    Funnily enough, it has quite an effect upon the obedience of the citizenry.

      Yeah, that's one way of looking at it, cpace...

      I remember an interview with one of Kim Jong-Il's henchmen who had defected to South Korea. He explained his reasons for leaving NK by saying "I just got bored of torturing people..."

    Didn't their top player, Jong Tae-Se, had to apply to become a North Korean international and could have easily played for South Korea.
