I do hope the rider is alright.

That was a genuine WTF!!! I did not see that coming at all.
I was sitting here bitching about a heads up display in a helmet then WOMP!
    I hope he's OK too.

That was a real rider who pulled out. If it was a stunt then he has amazing body armor.

    Well the helmet looks fine............

Thanks, Lawrence. Every once in awhile it's good to see a reminding confirmation of why I don't ride bikes.

That STILL could be faked. But TWO PROBLEMS...

    1. A system like that may give you false security.
    2. You should look BOTH ways BEFORE pulling out.

      OMGosh!

That's horrible! I hate the fact that they don't let you know if the dude is OK!

And Thom, please don't buy one of those helmets!

clear setup - you don't actually see the rider hit - I think it's a very good spoof video. Had it been real the camera would have panned left immediately as the biker began moving - but it didn't. You would also have to believe the reporter didn't see a big white truck when she turned that direction to tell the guy to "go".

I was expecting something - but not that. I thought the car pulling would hit the guy - do you believe a computer can tell you if the person in the car has SEEN you? No.

All good points. As to whether the guy saw you or not, WHO CARES! Besides, they obviously mean apparently looked in your direction. That is hard enough for a computer to TRY to do. I actually try to move my eyes WITHOUT moving my head, because I am afraid some idiot will see me and pull out when IT IS NOT SAFE! Too many times I look over, they pull out, and almost cause a crash. HECK, sometimes I have to turn a corner FAST because some idiot is tailgating, etc... I EVEN put hazards on, and pulse the brakes, but some guys just don't seem to care. On drivers tests, etc..., there is the 2 second rule. And that is about as long as many seem to remember it after leaving the test or class.

BTW a lot of motorcycle drivers are WORSE! They may dart in and out and all over, and even pull up RIGHT in front of your car. If you are starting to accelerate even BEFORE they move in front of you, they could be DEAD! AND, if you think THAT is bad, some bicycle riders do the same in Boston! A lot of people have complained about it.

HECK, today I drive a RENTAL, and I don't want to have an accident in one.

To me the missing link is why didn't they show the helmet display? What is it that the driver sees?

If it was legit, I think this would be the first thing they'd want to show.

Good point. The "hit" seems real but the body language after seems a little off.
