Family Guy Road Rage

This video just might make you laugh.

By the way, I had road rage a couple months ago when someone almost ran me off the road, I pulled back in front of him, slowed him way down, he took out his cell phone to start taking photos of my license, I started cussing like I never do in front of my daughter, pulled into the slow lane, he drove along side us and I flipped him off as I was calling him a freaking ahole while he was taking my photo with his cell phone. I hope he frames it.

    Well, civility in driving is almost non existant. I am FAR more aggresive on the freeway than I am anywhere else. Heck, I used to live in sherman oaks ca near the ventura freeway and JUST east of the 405. You HAD to be agressive to get to the west valley, or you would end up onn the way to sandiego!

    But STILL... If I am at a driveway, and can't drive such that I leave the drivewayy clear, I STOP! The reason is because their is a SLIGHT possibility that it might slightly inconvenience the person immediately behind me, but otherwise leaves the driveway clear so people can get out, and people can drive in.

    Well, there is a group of stores here that is on the left hand side of the road. SOMETIMES people are nice, do what I described, and I, and maybe OTHERS can get in, etc... But SOMETIMES, they BLOCK the way! WHY? THEY don't get anywhere! The person BEHIND them goes nowhere. NOTHING is accomplished other than blocking the driveway. And SOMETIMES, they are talking on the cellphone, and not paying attention to ANYTHING! That is ILLEGAL here.

    But that is just my latest gripe. When I drive out in the morning, I have to pull over to the left. ONE wrong move, and I could end up on a road that goes all over, and I don't even know the area. SOMETIMES some IDIOT paces my car and, if I speed up, THEY speed up. I later find that they had to switch places with me. IF they went faster earlier, or slowed down slightly, we could both switch with no problem. THEY usually don't signal, and I DO.

    I think I already mentioned how I hate tailgaters. HEY, I try not to tailgate anyone else. I have EVEN had people to the right of me make a left turn, without noticing someone is in the left left turn lane, EVEN when they were in a right turn lane.

    AND, if I were ever to flip anyone off, though I DON'T, it would be when they wave thanks after endangering my vehicle and possibly life by pulling out to FORCE me to stop, even though there is often no way to safely do so.

    Tim? That's why you need one of those pick-up trucks with the
    12 gauge hanging in the rear window.

    Driving in Delaware is brutal. I think we have about a dozen cars
    in the state, total.

    I have given up flipping people off after a long and brave career in the HA tradition

    Here is what cured me finally -

    I am going 65 in the left lane - the speed limit.
    Not fast enough for Effing Pig Tailgater in a honky pickup truck.

    So he decides to go around and cut right in front of me as close as he could without hitting me.

    So I flip him off even though he is an old man.

    Then he throws a full bottle of beer out his side window and I am sure that he meant for it to go through my windshield.

    Luckily I am lucky as bad as I am and it doesn't touch my car or even go under it.

    I guess the pig read my mind as I start looking at his license plate to call the cops.

    He quickly darts over 3 lanes to exit the freeway to get away from me - and reminded me of a filthy cockroach when you turn the lights on.

    In my next life I hope I am 6 feet tall 250 pounds so I can do a lot more than flip people off. I would have beat that man to a pulp and broke every single window on his truck.

    That reminds me of one time I was on my bike, motorcycle, and this
    guy in a van gets too close to me, from behind, so I slow a little to
    encourage him to pass. Speed limit was 55. I was doing maybe 65.

    This guy passes me, naturally moves in front of me, and then starts
    washing his windshield. You know what happened. All over me. He
    kept doing it. I moved to the left lane, he followed. So I slow down
    and he moves to the other lane.

    But I was so pissed off I accelerated and got right next to his window.
    Luckily he wasn't totally insane and side-swiped me. lol. So I'm right
    outside his window screaming at him, mf'ing him at the top of my lungs.

    He gets scared and hits the gas. I follow him for about 5 miles on the
    highway. lol. He's throwing trash out the window. lol. Empty cans, whatever.

    He tried to feint an exit, I followed, he moved back, me too. I'm on his
    ass. Finally I got bored and slowed down.

    That was about 5 years ago. As for my stats: 6' 5", about 230. (no fat.) lol

    I was ready to tear him a brand new one.

    I'm in CA in the center of the state East of San Fransisco.
    The drivers here, I don't think are conscious. If this is their idea of conscious it really explains a lot about CA to me. It doesn't do you any good to get pissed off here - they just gaze at you and drool. I'm thinking everyone out here is on psychological pharms or something. They really shouldn't be driving - but like the chick said in the Night of the Living Dead remake "They're so SLOW". Once they get on the interstate though, they turn into Raptors - they are all over the place and just try to run you down no matter what else is going on.

    Before I came here, I thought Denver had the most aggressive drivers, and Portland OR had the stupidest. With the zombies on the city streets and back roads and the raptors on the expressway - I don't even know how to classify the chaos that passes for traffic out here.

    I live on Long Island and the traffic here is just crazy.
    When I see traffic on the road in the early afternoon I say to myself why are these people not at work?
    I just returned a leased car that was full of dents from bumper to bumper traffic.
    I expected the damages to be around $3500.00 or more but my wife was nice to the inspector and he put down only $1200.00

      Perhaps my most memorable road rage episode I had was with my ex fiance on hi 280. Pat knows this highway well I'm sure. At this time traffic was pretty heavy and I was in the fast lane. There were cars in front of me, on the side and just all over. Then this pickup truck gets behind me and gets within inches of my a$$!. I mean inches. I immediately get pissed because I had nowhere to go. There was traffic in front. What does this guy want me to do? Pull aside so he can tailgate the next driver and then the next?

      Now imagine what happened next. Traffic was going like 55 or so. Below the speed limit, but still moving. This part of 280 has about 5 lanes. Being in the fast lane and upset about this jerk tail gating the hell out of me, I decided to slow down. I got down to 45 and I could see he was pissed. He couldn't pass me because the next lane was full of cars going faster now. Now there was a big gap in front of me. He was going nuts and started honking. I slowed down more to about 35. He got more irate. I could see him in my mirror. His anger just made me more angry and I slowed down more and more. I eventually slowed down to about a complete stop. I mean no faster than 5 mph in the fast lane, while all the other lanes were going around 55. lol. Was it wrong to do? Yes. But at least I didn't ram a car or anything.

      Eventually, this guy gets into the other lane and goes besides us. My GF opens the window, cusses at him and flips him off while I am also yelling at him. He gets more incensed and tries to sideswipe us. I had to swerve to miss his truck. It was at this point that we realize this guy might be like one of those Deliverance type unstable dudes. For the next 10 miles or so he chased us from behind and the side making violent gestures with his hands and truck.

      Finally I was able to take a quick two lane change of lanes onto a turnoff to another freeway and we escaped this lunatic. We laughed and proceeded to a terrific sushi dinner. The California rolls were delicious. For a few days after wards I kept saying in jest "Hey, that truck is behind us again" and my ex would at first get startled and then start laughing. Ahh, memories. Sigh.

    Living in New York I have gotten VERY used to aggressive drivers. I used to be very aggressive myself.

    Not to say that I don't get road rage from time to time, but it is very rare now. I found there's no point. I used to drive for a living (as a field service technician). That kept me on the major highways in the NY, NJ, Penn and CT area almost daily.

    On the NYS Thruway, if you are in the left lane (especially during morning or evening rush) you better be doing 80 or just get out of the way (speed limit is 65). It gets nutty.

    Nowadays, if someone is tailgating me, the first opening I find to move and let them pass me I take it. I now find it amusing because I have learned (and proven to myself) that you DON'T get to your destination THAT much faster by driving like a complete lunatic on a crowded highway.

      Funny video! Hadn't seen that one.

      What happens here in my area a lot is that people seem to like to race to whip out in front of you from a side street - - yet there is no one driving behind you for miles (i.e. they could've waited like 2 seconds for you to pass, then just pull out at normal speeds).

      Then once these folks whip out, they slow to a snail's pace :confused:
      I mean what was the rush to whip out and nearly make me go in the ditch?
      And why slow down then?

      Makes no sense, but happens a lot. Too much.

      Just so I am not misunderstood, by agressive, I meant to do things like pull partially in to FORCE a person to relent. That is about as close to visible "road rage" as I get. Like I said I don't "flip the bird", or yell.

      And I can't just let tailgaters pass, because they don't voluntarily do so anyway, and changing lanes could delay one a LOT if it is on a freeway or something. In any event, there is a fair chance I would just get another tailgater. I don't know, maybe they just want stops to be a surprise. As you said, it doesn't get them anywhere faster.

      BTW TO THIS DAY I think my time in New york is one reason I got my dissected aorta. It happened RIGHT AFTER I got home from new york and was about to take my vacation! Talk about HECTIC! That was the MOST stress I had EVER been under in such an untenable situation for so long. Maybe YOU would react differently, but I had to return my rental to a place I had really never been to, had very little time for my flight, and was lost on a busy maze of roads, with TONS of traffic, and only had a cell phone with no charger. OH, and I was hungry and didn't feel well.

    I've never had a incident of screaming with another driver but I hate folks that tailgate.

    I think they're particularly dangerous and tailgating suggests something unstable about their mental makeup and I don't want them behind me.

    It's stressful to the driver and one small mistake and you've got at least a fender bender.

    About once a week during school season, as I drive my kid and another to school during a 30 minute commute to go only about 6 miles - down one long road - ...

    ...before we have to turn off,...

    ... I have to let someone know to stay away from my tail or there's no need to speed and screech to a halt behind me,...

    ( I flash my brakes a few times and sometimes lift my arms up to the mirror or out my window - as in like - what are you doing ???? )

    ... since we not going to go more than 20 miles an hour anyway or move more than 50 yards before we have to stop again.

    If we're stopped in traffic and I move up 1 foot, they move up one foot- silly.

    The kids and I sometimes have a good laugh at them and they sometimes turn around in their seats to make backoff gestures at the culprit.

    The perp gets the message and keeps their distance or changes lanes.

    I listen to music or give the kids a history or music listen, or refresh them for a test on the way to school.

      Yeah, I HATE that, especially when they are too close ANYWAY. NOW, I sometimes stay FARTHER away from the car in front so I can take longer to slow down to try to get the message to the guy behind me. Some newer cars have additional signals higher up. GREAT idea, but they need a ****BACKUP!!!!**** light as well.

    I live in a rural area. When you pass someone on the road -- even if you don't know them -- you wave. Especially if you're on a gravel road.

    If two or more cars come to a four-way stop at the same time, there's a lot of gesturing. Everyone is signaling the others to go first. LOL

    Nope, not too much road rage here.

    Mike A -- I don't know where you are in NY, but I was in upstate for 9 months and was actually impressed with the drivers. I never went near the City though -- You couldn't pay me to go to NYC. And I can imagine what the drivers get like when you get even close to that place.

    Tim - I don't know what it is with some truck drivers, but they can be bizarrely aggressive. I was on a patch of highway out in ILL - 5 lanes. There was a truck in the second inside, which allows it to not get caught in exits - 3 lanes on the other side of him but traffic and traffic in front of him. I was on the right side of this truck and had a jerk behind me so I Flashed my brights at the truck to tell him I was coming up on his right side. All the sudden a truck pulled up behind him - same thing riding literally only inches from that trucks bumper. With the jerk behind me it looked like a wreck that I was in a very bad position for. So I backed off the gas fast and dropped back enough to let the truck into the right lane and flashed him over. The guy behind me was going bonkers because I slowed down. After that we drove tag team through the rest of the state and neither one of us had another problem with idiots. LOL.

I would have thought they would jump over. A HUGE 3 story complex in a FOREST! The cafeteria had windows on 3 sides, and was perched such that you could see the forest outside. NOBODY told me that the county had their own airport. Unfortunately, the airport had ONE waiting area, and only a few gates, so IT was crowded. But it was like a BLOCK from where I worked. When I left, I flew out of JFK, as I recall. YEECH!

        I'm not that far from Armonk. Where I live is at the foot of the Catskill region. I ride a motorcycle and we have some GREAT riding. Very scenic, especially in the fall. In fact, in the fall we get more tourists than in the summer due to the explosive color changes and the apple picking.

        The other morning I went in to town to walk the walking path around the ponds we have, and from a small stand of trees a deer sprang out and ran across the street, through a yard and in to the woods beyond. We also get deer in our yard from time to time.

        It can be very nice.

          When I was there I was just up the hill from Troy - not quite country, but far from being a city. The major highways did get crowded, but not as bad as they do in Denver, LA, etc. Anyhow - I had a rockhound friend in Glen Falls and we spent some time on the road. There are some beautiful areas still, but it's starting to get crowded even in the country. Thom toured me all the way up to 13th lake one day and it was loaded with people when I had expected remote. You have to get way back into the Mts to even start to see remote -- but once you are past Saratoga going North or past Schenektedy (sp?) going West, the traffic thins out and the drivers are just unbelievably courteous. What's even more amazing is that they are GOOD drivers. They understand how to drive for the road conditions and do so. That's becoming a rare thing.

          And as far as Autumn in NY state? I would LOVE to go back for a week or two at the end of September. It is breathtaking in the autumn.

            Depending on the season and how wet or dry, Sept. may be too early. Here are some pics I took a few years back on a motorcycle ride I took. One set in Sept. one in November.

Everyone I met as I walked down the sidewalk said hello. The Postmaster greeted me by name. So did the clerk at the credit union (no ID required).

        I love the people around there, Becky. One time we rented a house way out but closest city was LaCrosse, WI.

        No address only P.O. Box -

        We just moved there and we needed to find a store. So I piled into the car with my son, then about 6 and traveled a long time on winding 2-lane roads before I got to a little town and found a store.

        I really hadn't paid attention to where I had been along the way (city girl I just had no concept of lost). Good luck because I don't know my way back - don't even know my address, and it's getting dark and it is foggy.

        Nearly in tears I went to the Sheriff's office - 'can you give me directions to P.O. Box 9193'? LOL. I had no idea in the world where I lived! The only thing that saved me was I knew we rented the place from a Veternarian and it was near a rock quarry.

        The Sheriff knew just where I was coming from. He was the coolest old guy - he knew I was upset and I will never get over how he drove all the way back there in his squad car just so I could follow him. (somehow he knew I probably couldn't follow directions)...

Everyone I met as I walked down the sidewalk said hello. The Postmaster greeted me by name. So did the clerk at the credit union (no ID required).

      Mike A -- I don't know where you are in NY, but I was in upstate for 9 months and was actually impressed with the drivers. I never went near the City though -- You couldn't pay me to go to NYC. And I can imagine what the drivers get like when you get even close to that place.
      Just to clarify, pretty much all of the "road rage" I see or experience happen on the major interstates and usually during rush hour. I live in a MAJOR commuting area, where people commute to NYC - from where I live that's about 90 minutes on a GOOD day, so tempers sometimes flare.

      When you are traveling on most of the other roadways there is a LOT of courteous drivers - even as you described Becky.

      The other "problem areas" we have are some of the state highways... 3 lanes each way, major commuting roadways, but NOT limited access. There are a multitude of stores, malls and side streets that dump out on to the roadways so there's a lot of morons who try to come out in front of cars, or people in the left lane who suddenly need to zip over 3 lanes to get to Bed, Bath & Beyond... that kind if crap.
