I'm Starting To Get Annoyed With Myself

Lately, I find that I am making stupid, careless mistakes that I don't normally
make.

I don't know whether it's age, fatigue or just plain carelessness but it's
starting to bother me.

That's all...just needed to get that off my chest.

    Hi Steven,

'annoyed with yourself - making mistakes'

You might have been working too hard? Take a break.

I'm really good at giving myself a break. It's not so good for finances, but it's great for more important, meaningful and worthwhile things.

I tried doing things the other way round for a long time and it didn't work for me. The world is so topsy-turvy and FUBAR that taking it too seriously doesn't pay off in the big scheme of things.

If I was a doctor, I would prescribe you a course of 'staring meaninglessly into space' for a while. You deserve it

I always said living in Jersey would kill you.

      • LOL! I have to buy water for my fish tank.

Steve, sometimes a day strolling the boardwalk with the wife works wonders for information overload. You can go on a weekday. Live the dream every now and then.

In all my years living next door, including actually working in jersey for
almost 11 yrs, I never heard anyone refer to jersey as 'darn.'

      Other adjectives, but not darn.

Steve... you're never too old to twist-up a bob marley and put your
      feet up.

            Steven -

Do you eat on a regular basis? (I kow you eat - but do you have scheduled meals most of the time?).

About a year ago I had days when I felt clumsy - which isn't like me at all. Turns out my bad habit of skipping meals was catching up to me and my blood sugar was dropping drastically.

It was messing up my coordination (not to mention double vision and a couple blackouts).

Didn't need meds - just needed to eat regular small meals to keep sugar from falling off the cliff. Made a big difference.

I do think if you have an extended period of time where you don't seem to moving as you are used to, it's time to get a checkup to see if something is out of balance.

Of course, if you're fine - maybe you're just turning into a klutz

I'm actually on a very rigid diet and eating schedule. I eat like clockwork.

In fact, due to diet and some herbs, I've finally conquered health issues
              that I've had for years.

But I'm making stupid, careless mistakes with my work. Maybe I'm just not
as conscientious as I used to be since my livelihood doesn't depend on
making a full time income anymore.

Still, I'd like to think that I take enough pride in my work that I'll put in
the effort I need to in order to come out with a quality product.

The only thing that has changed this summer (actually, every summer) is
that I go to bed a little later because my wife does since she's off from
school until September. But I'm not tired. At least not during the times of
the day that I work. Yeah, I get tired at night now, but I don't work at
night anymore. In fact, I've been playing video games since dinner time.

Not sure what's wrong other than I am getting older and I am finding that
it is harder for me to remember things. I don't know if the two are related.

    Hey Steve,

This might sound ridiculous but try and double up your water intake - stress and a lack of focus in many ways happen not because of overwork but because of a lack of water i.e. lack of water/dehydration is the main cause and then the workload - remember when you feel thirsty - its the last sign of a body thats dehydrated and not the first sign.

    Try it...we need you here

Um....He lives in JERSEY. You don't wanna know what's in THAT water -- better tell him to import it, too!

Hey Steve, I have a good one that I've not been able to shake lately. Sending emails with attachments - only I forget to attach anything.

It's becoming a freaking syndrome in itself.

Maybe we'll meet up in someplace that they shuffle the mentally disoriented to someday.

I have to agree on upping the water intake, that can have dramatic changes in how one feels. Also, we all need to take a break now and then. Funny, how different the same thing can look after walking away for a breath of fresh air.
