What Music Do You Listen To When Doing IM?

I tend to block out product creation time about two days a week and it's normally 4-5 hours at a time. I like to have music playing in the background and lately I've been partial to two albums:
"Born on the 24th of july" by Charles Webster and "Echo Other" by All India Radio. I can let these two albums loop and it gives a soothing sountrack that's conducive to thinking and creating. Anyone have some more suggestions?

I like anything that's low key and soothing: jazz, classical, older R&B, liturgical chants, traditional folk....

Eminem is what I listen to, no matter what I am doing

Some might think that kind of music can hinder concentration but that's not the case with me.

Infact, here's what I'm listening to while I type this:

These are the ones I love:

and the list goes on and on but I won't fill up this thread with all the 500 songs I listen to everyday

I love to hear Yiruma playing piano while I was working. His music is soft, low and very helpful to make your mind focus on what you're doing.

Listen on last.fm by typing Yiruma into search box, it will find for you several other songs that have the same genre as Yiruma music.

Pandora or my itunes on shuffle. If I am getting annoyed by the music as it's too boisterous and I really need to concentrate, I turn on pandora and listen to a channel I have there that's mostly instrumental ambience music, Moby type stuff with no singing. Or, I listen to some Enya on my itunes.

Whenever I do something that requires thought, I typically can't listen to music. Though, there are a few tasks i do each week that are pretty mindless, I love cranking up Muse, it makes the work a lot more enjoyable

I listen to AC/DC. It is high energy for me and helps me concentrate, but I can't explain why.

No music if I need to concentrate and when I have to do some repetitive work, I listen to some seriously hardcore heavy metal.

I love Grunge, Rock, Metal and all the other sorts of 80's music, but when I'm doing IM, the only music that keeps me focused is electronic music. I can't understand why, since I'm not really a fan of that, but it really keeps me more concentrated than rock.

Maybe because I can't listen to most of my iTunes songs without starting singing :-P

Speaking of music, do you have any idea on how can I get this music player on my blog? I'm using Wordpress. MySpace Music Player / Playlist | MP3 / Video Widgets for Friendster, Facebook, Gaia, Tagworld, Hi5, IMVU, Blog, etc

I have a very difficult time concentrating with any sound whatsoever....I do like to watch the news though, so, I'll usually just MUTE it, and read the breaking news subtitles occasionally...

Usually, whatever I feel like. Right now it's the Thompson Twins.

I also really like listening to Uriah Heep, Alan Parsons Project, Wang Chung, AFI, Shinedown and Three Days Grace while I'm at it.

@Mohammad - Eminem's newest stuff is really good to listen to while I'm at it, too - especially "Not Afraid," "Love the Way You Lie" and "Spacebound." Though it can get too distracting if I'm writing....

Great list. I remember seeing "The Heep" in Reading. Brilliant.

My listening music at the moment is Snow Patrol, The Killers and Leona Lewis

I just love well constructed songs performed with feeling

Really into my Indie/Alternative music, been listening to a lot of Strokes, Alkaline Trio, Cribs and Libertines recently but will always have a place for Red Hot Chilli Peppers, GnR and Stone Roses. Going to Leeds fest at the end of the month so no doubt will pick up a lot of IM inspiring music there.

When I take a break from IM, I listen to all sorts of CD's.

It is great to take a small break every 15 minutes.

I like to listen to just about everything...depends on how much motivation I need. Eminem, anything a little faster paced if I am needing a little kick start. But if I am already in the zone, just about anything rock related; Collective Soul, Killers, Trews, and so on.
