I Guess I've Finally Made It

I've had emails from people who haven't been happy with one of my products.
We all get them. Nobody can please 100% of our customers. I understand
that.

But today, I got an email that basically compared me to the guys who we
sometimes look at as just trying to make a buck. You know who I mean
and what I'm talking about.

It was an odd feeling. As hurt as I was by the email, it also made me realize
that maybe I'm not just average Joe marketer anymore. While I may not be
John Reese or Frank Kern yet, I'm no longer the little guy either.

I guess I can probably expect more of these emails as I become more
successful.

How do these guys develop thick skins for this stuff?

Or do they just not read their hate mail?

It is the truth that no matter how much "heart" one puts into their products, Steve, sometimes when making multiple products in a line, one isn't gonna be as good as the rest and then people are going to scream. If you are a long time Stephen King, Dean Koontz, or Peter Straub reader, you can always tell the books that were pushed through to meet a contract deadline and which had some solid soul behind them.

Just look at your products and remember....even the worst of yours is better than some of the best of someone else's even if you took a temporary dive on one of them.

I find it incredible that you got this far before getting that reaction out of someone. One thing we can say for sure is that you are beating the odds.

Many of the surveys I have read show that for every one person who complains, there are 17 others who don't complain - they just won't be a return customer, and they will complain to 100 other potential customers...

For this reason I offer many contact points for customers - email, helpdesk, phone, fax, messenger, and mail. If anyone has a complaint about any of my products, I make sure that I or my staff are the first ones to hear about it. Be glad you are getting the complaints, this gives you an opportunity to resolve the issues, build a relationship with your customer - and get referral business! If they can't complain to you, they will complain to someone else, and you don't want that.

All my products come with a 100% unconditional money back guarantee. Some people say I'm foolish to have such a policy, and I do get burned quite a bit. But, I make a lot more money than any of my competitors! Having a good reputation and referrals as a result of that reputation will make you rich in the long run.

Make it easy for your customers to complain to YOU. Otherwise, they could be complaining to your future prospects.

I too completely agree with this. Even President of US also faces a huge criticism and hate from different types of people in his own country as well as worldwide. So We should make it a habit to consider the Criticism as the step to our success as it always provides one more step to become a better and improved person in our life.
