The plague is what killed so many people in horrible way in Europe. Now there's an outbreak in Canada, but not as bad as in the States. Best keep doors locked up in your trailer and hold off on hunting squirrels or prairie dogs for a while:

You should get a job with main stream media. A single dead prairie dog is an outbreak...Best keep doors locked up...Too bad no humans have been infected since 1939.

Nope. The news media is downsizing though. Only jingoistic extremists get steady jobs working in the news media.

Prairie Dogs are vermin anyways- they spread all kinds of diseases. No big surprise that the "plague" is one of the germs they happen to be carrying.

I believe that the plague was carried by the fleas on the animals. Please correct me if I am wrong. We had a few cases of plague (in animals) a few years back here in the states. Not much happened with it.

This happened a few years back in a park a few blocks from where I grew up, in the middle of Denver:

      Plagued with thoughts about plague...

Just saw plague in an episode of House this past week.

Anyways, I hear if you cover yourself from head to toe in peanut butter, you'll be safe.... from plague, anyways, but not from bears.

Anytime that plague shows up (and it does periodically) it's considered an outcrop of it because at one time they thought it was eradicated. So it only takes one dead animal to call it an outcrop or outbreak. It doesn't mean that it's spreading - just that it showed up. People get panicked because they think that "outbreak" means a whole area.

Well, it should be basically impossible to wipe it out, so I don't know why anyone would ever think otherwise. It WOULD be nice if we could get rid of all fleas, etc... but it hasn't happened yet. SO, why haven't WE seen an outbreak since? Better sanitation, better at controlling the rodent population, and flea population, and antibotics!

HECK, LEPROSY is still around! And IT is curable also. Some things get SO blown up during one period that, while in another period they should be little more than footnotes, they continue to be greatly feared, etc...
