In a bored moment (read I've got the flu) I replied to a phishing email from "Red Dot". I've had a reply from Dr Paul Edwards - he's even sent me his photo.

Question - does anyone know who this is really a photo of?

Edit : before anyone jumps in and tells me not to reply to spam, I have an email addy reserved for replying to spam - it comes from "Mrs Spam Email" - but still they reply to me!

Kind of resembles the late Liberace in his younger days.

Just for your information it is not a very good idea to reply to spam - particularly phishing spam.

When they sent you the original message they had no idea if your email address was valid.

When you reply now they know it is valid and you will just get more spam for one thing. Now they even have your IP address which is your general physical location.

For the other thing, particularly the 419 Conspiracy letters that come from Nigeria and Ivory Coast (and elsewhere) are very dangerous individuals.

People who have dealt with them have disappeared and been murdered in the past. If you don't believe me go and read some of the sites about 419 Conspiracy.

p.s. One more very important thing is you are literally 'opening a can of worms' - It used to be you had to click an attachment to catch a virus. However now, just opening an email can infect your system with a worm that may probogate itself to your entire address book, and everyone you have in there will receive the same message and continue to send the worm.
