Creepy indeed. And sadly the idea won't be shelved as the article writer suggests it should be, but instead it will be taken and expanded beyond our current comprehension. Scary days are ahead.

I have been thinking about switching to something other than an iphone next cell upgrade.

This might just be enough to push me towards a blackberry or something.

OK, now THIS I HATE! Apple was BUILT on ideas AGAINST this! Alas, the REAL king, like so much other talent, has LEFT! And copying data is ILLEGAL!

AND my father told me of a person that worked on a program an airline wanted to try. They wanted a TRIAL! He GAVE them a trial! He said to NOT use it past a certain period or it would wipe EVERYTHING! They asked THEIR programmers if that were possible, the "programmers" said NO WAY! They tried it, and their data was wiped. I was told they actually SUED the programmers and WON!!!!

The programmer was ONLY trying to protect HIS property, and HE got sued! So how should Apple be able to wipe ANOTHER's property and escape judgement?

Yeah, I KNOW! This stuff happens ALL THE TIME! People have been trying to spy and sell such data since at least the 70s. They KNOW everyone HATES the idea! They just keep trying.

    Steve,

They do it because they can. It's all about financial clout. You
know that. It's no different than some company stealing an idea
or copyright from the person who developed it. The company
knows that person doesn't have the financial means to fight it.

Nothing new. Scary times arrived 9 years ago, if not much sooner
by decades. Too many examples to cite. And citing them seems
to be a waste of time, anyway.

TO THIS DAY I really kind of HATE Jobs for taking over. With wozniak, there was nice innovation and experts LOVED working there. You know, the macintosh may have been the first ad campaign to the people after Wozniak was pretty much GONE!

    Woz left in 1981
Jobs pushed the lisa in 1982(a FLOP due to poor integration and price)
    The mac appeared in 1984

But you know, the 1984 commercial was supposed to show the APPLE mentality. The HEAD computer companies basically tried to make people tow the line. This commercial portrayed the public as zombies, watching "BIG BROTHER"! AND, in case anyone doubted, the announcer talked about 1984 like it was a previous event and BAD! He was obviously talking about the book 1984 which talked about the same sort of thing. The woman came in to show she was going against the grain, and threw a hammer into big brothers works...

Alas, IBM and Apple have switched places. 8-( Apple was open and free and IBM was closed and FIXED. And not that has been reversed.

And now this stuff about SPYING!?!?!? And WHY did they even patent it anyway? It isn't some secret, or hard to do. If it wasn't done before, it was due to decency or fear of reprisal, NOT lack of ability, etc.... Frankly, if they got data on me, I would want to sue them for all my connect charges since they obviously stole bandwidth. And that would just be for starters.
