This Was 3 Years Waiting

I won't mention any names, but 3 years ago a VERY big marketer approached
me for a JV...a true JV. I was a relative nobody then. He was a very
successful person...I mean VERY successful.

Well, at the last minute, after I had put in a ton of work on my end doing
product creation, this marketer backed out on our deal.

3 months work for NOTHING.

I was going to expose him publicly but didn't because I have too much class
for that.

Well, today, 3 years later, this person contacts me again for another JV of
a sort.

He obviously didn't remember what he did to me 3 years earlier.

He probably also doesn't realize that I'm not a nobody anymore.

I wish you could read the email I just sent him.

It was 3 years coming and it felt DAMN good.

Folks, this is a lesson in burning your bridges.

It WILL come back to bite you on the ass.

    People don't forget.

When I was a high school student, I did work experience in a veterinary surgery. The vet told me I'd be no good as a vet and I should think about just being a nurse, or tech as they call it over your way.

Fast forward 15 years, I had an honours degree, my own very successful practice, and I ended up hiring him for a week while I went on holiday. I didn't remind him of his comments, but it felt very satisfying when I wrote his paycheque.

    Steven,

Yeah, I would not work with him after what he did to you. Maybe now he knows that you are a big shot in the internet marketing world.

I would not work with him and do my own projects and make more money rather then sharing it with him or anyone else.

Ironically, he is one of the most successful and, I think, respected marketers
around. He certainly sells products by the boat load.

      No, he's no scam artist.

Just somebody you can't trust to keep his word.

    Steven,

Isn't the product creation salvagable? Sell it ELSEWHERE, after removing any link to him!

It isn't so much about the product as it was about him using his huge
      network to promote it.

Sure, I could release it on my own, but so what?

Not worth the effort without the big backing behind it.

And don't get me wrong. He owed me nothing. But don't tell me you're
going to do something for me and then back out at the last minute.

That, IMO, just stinks and is totally unprofessional.

Oh if you only knew who it was.

      You'd be shocked as hell.

    Good for you, Teach.

I have declined several "JV" opportunities - as the nobody in the equation I know when people offer me a JV they are saying 'will you work for no pay (except the possibility that someday, maybe if (a) i ever get around to actually launching it and (b) it is a success, you will be paid a pittance'?

No thanks I need to be paid for my work straight up - no THEORETICAL cash accepted.

      Well, this gets even better.

After the scathing email I wrote this person, they respond back to me with
an email welcoming me on board as a new JV partner.

So obviously, they never bothered to even read my scathing email along
with my conditions for working together.

I honestly wonder how this person ever got to be so big.

Or maybe that's how...by being a total ass.

Sure it was not an autoresponder?

I have a feeling I know who this is..

You know some people may have given up after 3 months work
for nothing. You're here because you didn't. I respect that.
