I propose that we "get along" and "play nice" with our fellow Warriors.

In the spirit of putting an end to the recent harshness that's occurred in the Off Topic forum, I'll go first by pledging to support my fellow warriors and when I disagree, to respectfully state my my opposing views/ideas. Personal attacks and name calling are prohibited.

Those who agree and would like to also adopt this "play nice" attitude, reply to this thread with your commitment.

Regards,

John

ps - I forgive all those who have trespassed against me in this forum.

pps - "I apologize to Tim, and anyone else I may have offended."

      I'm in.

I also would like to apologize to anyone I may have been rude to or overly aggresive in arguing my position on something. I admit I get carried away, especially when it comes to politics.

    Edited: I am in.

I will not growl or bite unless attacked.

I admit I do what I know is wrong and don't do what I know is right. Namely I don't forgive instantly which would preclude any need for retaliation.

Ah crap. We don't need to do this do we? We're all idiots, pricks, and bitches and we know that. LOL. So we flame a bit in here - what is new?
I'm a Cossack by blood and as far as I could see, things looked pretty normal in here. Just a hordcore case of sibling rivalry - just like an actual brick and mortar community.

But if I HAVE to be nice...uh...um....well, gee....maybe I'll be able to figure out how to do that, too. Can't be the toughest crap I've had to learn since I first found the "off/on" button, eh?

HeySal, I adore your attitude I try to be respectful and easy-going, but if someone backs me into a corner the claws come out. I yelled angrily for the first time at work today and you should have seen the jaws drop..they didn't know what to do...but think that'll be the last time they try that again with me lmao

Soooo..I will do my best to be nice and respectful of everyone on here (and just scream at the computer instead of addressing it in writing if someone says something that p's me off). Just be careful if you ask for an honest opinion 'cuz I have no problem speaking my mind when the mood hits

I'll try to be nice, but that is going against my nature. This reminds of the story of the scorpion and the frog.

A scorpion asks a frog to be take him across a river. At first, the frog is afraid that he will be stung if he gives him a ride on his back. But, the scorpion assures him that he will be nice and not sting him since they both would drown if he stung the frog as they crossed the river. So the frog agrees.

But half way across the river the scorpion stings the frog.

"You fascist idiot!" cried the frog, "Now we will both die! Why did you do that?"

The scorpion shrugged, smiled, and said, "I could not help myself. I am a scorpion and that is my nature."

It's not "being nice" that we need to get back to - and which we were pretty good at until the political fracas (time to end it now - you've got a winner - wish him luck as he's got a lot of problems to face).

All that is needed is to simply say "I think" - and stop dissing anyone who thinks in a different way.

No one's opinion is any more important than the other person's. We've debated many hot topics in the OT before all the politics began - and we treated each other with respect even when we argued.. You don't have to agree with another member - but you do need to respect the other person's view and his/her right to it.

The first thing to stop - the political threads. It's done - we'll see how it goes. Let's just drop it!

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Don't you remember when you were a kid playing with your friends and your Mother caught an earful of an argument and instructed everyone to play nice? What usually happened?

Everyone pledges to play nice until Mom's not looking then Billy delivers a vicious kick to Joey's nuts... and so on, and so on. Sad, even though a little funny at the time.

    Look...

We're all adults, hopefully. Let's just act like it. If someone attacks someone or acts like an uncontrollable kid, ignore them, don't reply to the thread, it'll die quickly enough. No need to wear a cup here - we're on the Internet - the kicking thing doesn't apply.

And please, try to know the difference between a respectful debate and an outright attack.

LOL. Wash your mouth out with soap, Michael.

I agree - there is no reason why we should not be able to share ideas and have a 'respectable debate' - and no reason to draw blood.

I have never been interested in politics before (and still totally don't trust the smoke and mirrors).

I have learned a lot here from everyone - lots of very smart, well-informed people -- and it was disappointing when the arguments were upsetting me so much that I had to stop reading the threads for a while.

So I probably grew an ulcer, but I am a lot smarter now.
