Default Oh boy. Got to watch what I say.

My baby boy (almost 5 months old) has taken to saying, "Oh boy" a lot. Guess where he got that from.

An infant less than 5 months old speaks? Did you leave off a digit on that age?

He speaks single words like "Mommy," "dada" and "baby." I guess "Oh boy" would be his first word combination.

As I recall, the benchmark is single words by 6mo, so he isn't unbelievably ahead. And babies probably don't really understand the concept of words, and what difference would it make?

As far as he is concerned OHBOY(ONE WORD) is something people say, he might have even figured out it means frustrated, upset, or surprised, but it is in line with what is expected.

Oh, boy, you better believe you gotta watch what you say now! ("kids say the 'darndest' things").

I am amazed at those ads on TV where little kids 2 - 3 years old can read - say the words, and recognize what words mean - it is not just 'baby talk' and imitations - they associate the 3.

Man, I just can't imagine what these kids will be capable of as they can start learning so young...

My ex-sister-in-law and I ended up having a real hard falling out because I watched the kid one night for her and it started to say f**k all the time...I got the blame, of course -- which wasn't so bad after they figured out she was saying fork but had trouble with her "r". Still - the things said to ME after that one never got unstuck from my craw, LOL.

Well I guess that put the immediate skids on saying, "Oh f***," too. Probably
said a little prayer over that one!

First words I ever said, "Pardon me, but would you have any Grey Poupon"?

Yeah, I was precocious as hell. Was about 10 when that happened.

You don't have to like or love everything or everyone, not in the usual sense. Injustices and villains always abound during primitive times. You knew this would be true before you chose this life, just as you knew that the good and the beauty would far exceed the bad and the ugly.

What is Grey Poupon? Sounds like a breed of dog.

No, you're thinking of the Flaming Flamingo Poupon Terrier. Only breeds once
every 20 years. Not many around.

Man, where ARE those hipwaders.

Grey Poupon, however, is a brand of gourmet mustard.

Nag, nag, nag, nag.

WIFE

Where'd he learn that word?

ME
Uh, er, I was watching an episode of Honeymooners on YouTube.

My nephew's first words were "give me", since then it's his favorite phrase...

Among my daughter's first few utterances was the phrase "dubbo dubbo" (along with mama, papa and boo.) She was trying to say "w", a word she, for some reason, found hilarious and smiled every time she heard me say it. Oh boy.

You want hilarious? Work in a day care center full of three and four year olds. Parents Caution: Do not fight in front of your children.....they play it out in episodes when they play house. It can be pretty darned entertaining for the staff of your local schools and day care centers.

That would be interesting to watch. It makes sense. Young kids mimic adults. My baby can now high five and wave goodbye, from watching me do it with his stuffed toys. I say, "Give me five," and he gives me five. I don't have other kids to compare him to, so everything is a surprise to me. He's great fun. Picks up things much faster than dogs I used to have. Haven't taught him to roll over or catch frisbees with his teeth yet (He doesn't even have teeth yet).
