Was just on CNBC talking about Hewlett-Packard's lawsuit against its former CEO because he is jumping ship to Oracle.

Good lesson here.

Noncompete agreements are enforceable in almost all states if they are reasonable. Not so in California. With a few exceptions, such as if you sell your business, non-competes are illegal in California.
