i cannot stand this new google instant nonsense.

google displays results 'as' you type them in. so for every letter you type in the screen 'flashes' and quickly displays results.

its like a strobe light and almost makes me feel drunk.

when i first noticed it i thought my computer was doing it, like my enter key was stuck or something.

right next to the search bar you can disable this insane feature.

anyways, cant stand it.

what about you?

Because they CAN! They DON'T care about bandwidth, etc.... They started using AJAX almost from the moment it was widely supported.

I can just imagine what work is like there. They are probably told to think of whatever they can, and implement it. If they can make money with it, they work on THAT also. A lot of what they did is not that unique, but it may be the first time anyone did that much of it and tied it together so well.

Actually, if I ran the government, I would be codifying laws to outlaw much of googles monopoly. They have TOO MUCH info on people. Just a couple days ago I saw people speaking about the implications of searching personal computers. YIKES!

I am planning on putting every current file I have on 3 disks. To look at it would create a distorted picture of me, but if they could use it in court? HECK! And what of viruses? And what of my google searches. I may lookup a recipe for say guncotton, ONLY out of curiousity. I looked up rootkits to try to defeat some.

Or you can stay signed in, go to the "settings" and turn off the instant search?!

Doesn't happen with my IGoogle page....had to go to classic google to even see what it was after I heard about it.
not impressed, see no advantage to searchers to have all the possible 'what if' garbage tossed out at them.

especially since it gives results for every fricken letter you enter as you enter it lol. Not just every word...I wouldn't be too bothered by that.
