Don't you leave post titles, and when you move a post, tell folks WHERE you've moved said post to?

All you ever do is say "post moved". And, after much searching, you might luck out and find out just where it moved to!

Just because it's in the wrong section, doesn't mean other's might not be interested in reading Mr. Smith's post on Google, a crumby program, etc.

Consider it.

Thank you.

Pete

Pete, if you click on the link, it automatically takes you to the new forum.

Then you can bookmark it from there if you like.

That's the way the move function works on forums as it leaves a ghost
image that you can trace to the new forum.

    Hope this helps.

Sometimes. Depends on the mod. Personally, if a post is so clearly in the wrong forum that the only explanation is that they weren't paying attention, I just delete them anymore. Especially review questions in the main forum. That stuff is not only out of place, it's very often a sneaky way to get in a plug or a slam.

Occasionally I'll see one that's on the fence, and I'll leave an expiring redirect when I move it. Beyond that... Nope. Especially with senior members who should know better.

I quite often get confused myself about why some things are moved to Mind Warriors, though.

        Paul

The forum I moderate on has an option that you can click on a little
box that says "leave shadow topic in place."

It's a phpBB forum, but I assume they're all pretty similar.

    Hi Pete,

    Steven is correct.

You can also hover over where it says "Post moved" and see the URL for where it is now.

At the same time, perhaps we could gently remind all members to take a moment to consider which section of the forum is the best match for their posts.

    All the best,
    Michael

Most of them you will find in the OT forum or Mind Warriors... I get sent there alot because alot of my talk is a thin line between motivation and making money... I think they go hand in hand. The Mods are pretty good judges... even though you question sometimes usually there is a valid reason for them moving something that you weren't seeing...

LOL. BTW dont be surprised if you find this very post in OT later, with good reason.

      I think that's a great idea

Remember, John, that we are all mods - and it's generally threads/posts reported by users that are brought to the attention of the Mod's. I don't think they would have time to trawl through all the threads - so they rely on others - then make a decision.
