What's Your Favorite Comedy Movie of All Times?

Hello,

I have been a fan of comedy movies and I really love laughing my heart out with those films. I am starting to collect them and I have started with this list:

Scary Movie 1 to 4
Superhero Movie
Bean the Movie
Mr. Bean's Holiday
White Chicks

I need to add more on my list and I really like some movies that can make me laugh. I know you also have your own favorite comedy movie. I also love those cute romantic comedy films such as You've Got Mail, He's Not Just That Into You, Love Actually, and so on!

I really liked Weird Science and Roxanne, but that was back in the 80's. Time flys....

Weird Science was good. Didn't see Roxanne, though.

I'm not a big fan of comedy movies. I mentioned this movie in
a previous thread, but it's applicable to this one. So I'll do it
      again.

No Time For Sergeants with Andy Griffith. It was made in the late
      50s, I'll guess. Hilarious.

Sorry, none of yours does it for me.
I will put one of Sarahberra's on my starting list thought.
    Weird Science is great.
    I also love Princess Bride.

I'm sure I have a weird sense of humour shared by no one, but in no particular order...:
      1. Mr. Bean - a whole lot of awesome there.
      2. Monty Python's Holy Grail and The Life of Brian - both funny and clever
      3. Raising Arizona - a brilliant film in my books, although "Dark Comedy" is a charitable description
      4. The Blues Brothers (the first one) - satisfies car chase desires too
      5. Princess Bride - one of my favorite movies in general, I think I have seen it 25 times (anybody want a peanut?)
      6. Blazing Saddles - probably the only good Mel Brooks film I have seen (although I never saw Young Frankenstein)
      7. Caddyshack (the first one) - about 10 different kinds of humour all rolled into one movie

Some maybes might include Ghostbusters, Spinal Tap, Groundhog Day, Big, Uncle Buck, Plains Trains and Automobiles, The Incredibles, The Pink Panther, Shrek, The Party...and that's all I can think of right now.

Good luck in your funny movie search!

Don't wait any longer to see Young Frankenstein!

Adding to the list for the OP...

Dr. Strangelove - Peter Sellers plays 3 parts
Another hilarious Peter Sellers movie is his Chauncey Gardner character in "Being There" with Shirley McClain.

Jack Nicholson in "Going South" has some pretty good scenes too.

And, "The Hollywood Knights" (does have a little wang to it) with Tony Danza, not that I'm a fan. The movie is hilarious though!

Well, just like everything else, too many to name. Couldn't pick a favorite if
        my life depended on it.

So I'll just list a few of the ones of mine that would be in the running.

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (I'm comin for yuh mama)
The Time Of Their Lives (Abbott & Costello)
The Out Of Towner's (Oh my God)
The Odd Couple (That was my linguine...Now it's garbage)
His Girl Friday (I put my arm in fire up to here for you)
Arsenic And Old Lace (This is developing into a very bad habit!)

I'd keep going but what's the point? There have been so many classic
comedies throughout the ages, long before Weird Science was even a
thought in the writer's mind or he was even born.

Thank God there are people out there who know how to make us laugh or
this world would be a very grim place.

Oh, and if you've never seen Arsenic And Old Lace, you've missed out on
truly one of the true gems of movie history.

        Frank Capra was a genius.

I was once at a party and a young woman from Cuba was saying how much she liked Charlie Chaplin. Nobody there, apart from myself and a couple of retired folk, knew who he was. I guess it makes sense that a young person from Cuba would know who he was. I gather cars, radios, and everything else there is from the mid-20th century.

Have to agree with you there. Can't stand the Wayan's Bro's movies. They end up getting shut off about 20 minutes in every time. (Wife loves them for some reason. Go figure)

I also agree with your favorites (other than TS3) and would have to add Tommy Boy (sentimental reasons) and Step Brothers. No other movie has made me laugh out loud more that SB.

Damn ... I really love movies in general so much that I find it hard to pick, or even remember, my favourites.

But as far as comedies go, I really like the movies in which John Candy was cast: Planes, Trains & Automobiles; The Great Outdoors; Uncle Buck; etc ...

EDIT: Oh yeah ... like someone else above just mentioned, the Policy Academy movies were great too. Lost count of how many times I watched those as a kid. Michael Winslow (who does the sound effects) really got into my head, and upon recognising this, I was once forced up, by my teacher, to entertain my classmates at primary school.

I find Guy Ritchie and Tarrantino films hilarious. I also loved National Lampoon Vacation. Oink, oink. A fish called Wanda is another classic. Kevin Kline stole the show for me. Don't call me stupid!

There was an old movie series i watched in the UK 70's. Black nad white so must have been 50's/60's. Old man, fat kid and a guy with glasses. They would be fireman in one movie, police in another etc....it was sooo funny. But I cannot remember the name of the actors nor the movies.

I like Steptoe and son as well.

That might be the Will Hay movies. They were made in the 30's and 40's.

Good thing you didn't choose "My Mother The Car" for a screen name.

If you have an appreciation for wit, Bringing Up Baby, Duck Soup and The Bank Dick will bring on the LMAO.

For modern stuff, I like O Brother Where Art Thou?, Raising Arizona and Fargo. The Coen brothers never make a bad movie. The Mr. Bean films and the Carry On series are funny with mad Brits running around loose.
Howard Hawks was such a great director...anything he did was gold - "Baby" is a great film, as are "Ball of Fire", "His Girl Friday" and a lot of others...

That was a great time for movies - I'm going to have to throw almost everything by Preston Sturges in there too "Sullivan's Travel" ("O Brother, Where Art Thou" is the movie Joel McCrea wants to make as his 'epic homage') "Palm Beach Story", "Lady Eve", and Capra's "Deeds", "Doe", "Smith" and "Arsenic"...IMO, these 'old' movies were all great, and never get 'old'...
