Farewell To As The World Turns

I've seen a lot of soaps go off the air in the 30 plus years that I have been
watching them, but none went off as elegantly as this classic did today.

As The World Turns...you went out with real class in an episode that I will
never forget for a long as I live.

    When I was a teen I got into the General Hospital "Luke and Laura" saga. It was great because every girl I knew in our high school liked it and it was a terrific conversation starter

    I really don't like soap operas. The same old drama always plays out. I think many people are tired of watching them.

      Nah.

      Pretty much everything on television these days has that "sopa opera-esque" feel to it. Including reality shows, crime drama's and even the WWE.

      They just don't call themselves soaps...

    It's sad Steven. It is like losing friends...

    I never watched that one and watched GH, OLTL, AMC for over 20 years - it was amazing how I kept up with it just on my days off, vacations, etc. (lol because they move so slow it's not hard to keep up with it)

    Then when I started working at home 5 years ago I could watch all 3 every day and I did for the first few years - but you know what - one at a time they have started to turn me off and for the past year I hardly ever watch them anymore.

    I have to admit I got teary-eyed when it ended today. I wasn't actually watching, but I could hear it in the other room where my 83 year old mother, who has followed it since it was on the radio, watched it end. All those characters have been a part of my family world since I was a little girl. In fact, my sister called our house in the middle of the episode, to acknowledge the end and make sure everyone was coping okay. -- P.
