Today, I stuck to my principles. These principles probably cost me a great
deal of money, but I stuck to them.

It was a very satisfying feeling.

Sometimes you just have to say no...no matter what it costs you.

And yes, it's just my opinion on the subject.

Each one of us has to do what we feel is best for us.

I did that recently, though I was given a lucrative offer. I'm not sure if it was principles in my case, but maybe more about less noble concerns.

For me it's not about satisfaction of staying within lines I have drawn for myself - I don't want the discomfort that comes from violating my own principles:p

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

I know what you mean, Steven. I've gone ahead and supersized my McDonalds meal dispite my wife's disapproval, too.

I didn't drive all that way to go home hungry...

Bill, why stop at a supersized Mickey D's? You should have gone for a
      Whopper meal.

I LOVE Whoppers, but alas, I'm a McDonalds alumni...

Although I do use that "You should have gone for a Whopper meal" line on my wife every now and then...

Wow - first Steve, then Bill.........might as well set the thread on fire. I stuck to my principles today, too. I do that a lot. I get the snot kicked out of me financially etc for it sometimes but I can look in the mirror and I sleep real fine so it could suck a LOT worse. I don't think a fat wallet is any kind of substitute for restful sleep.

Well, as "opinions" go, Steve, yours is "spot on," as they say. Integrity is the most important--and most commonly shared--character trait of the truly successful.
The difference between ethics and money is like the difference between time and money: If you have time, you can make money. But no amount a money can buy you a moment more time.
